ASA standard monitoring was ensured and rapid sequence induction of general anaesthesia (GA) performed with fentanyl (2mcg/kg), propofol (2,5mg/kg) and rocuronium (1,2mg/kg)...GA was maintained with Sevoflurane in Air/O2 mixture...Postoperatively, Acute Care Unit noticed adequate analgesia (VAS 0 at rest and mobilization), achieved with perineural ropivacaine 0,2% (20mg q4h), paracetamol (1000mg q6h), ketorolac (30mg q12h, 48 hours) and tramadol (100mg q8h), not requiring SOS medication...The continuous AC block, as part of a multimodal analgesia, permitted adequate pain control without compromising PO anticoagulation or ability to ambulate. Thus, considering its simplicity and safety, we believe that this analgesic option can be replicated, formulating a valid protocol for this procedure.

Conclusion(s): Although our study revealed that preconditioning with sevoflurane during liver transplantation may have more positive effects on early hepatic and renal functions than desflurane, it was thought that further prospective randomized studies are needed.

The dose of intra-op fentanyl was 334.3±56.8, 261.5±86.9 209.3±46.1 mcg in STI, STI-BCSPB and PLM-BCSPB respectively, (DS for PLM-BCSPB vs other groups, DS between STI groups) Conclusion(s): Combine Methods GA with BCSPB have some benefits vs mono GA. Co-analgesics afford to achieve an opioid-sparing effect

Opioid-free multimodal general anaesthesia has no beneficial effect on PONV, pain scores or morphine consumption in patients undergoing gynaecological laparoscopy but is associated with delayed recovery.

The cut-off values of SPI and ANI for detecting pain were similar regardless of the type of anesthesia.

The protective effect of sevoflurane in brain injury has been proved to be existed in several aspects, so that a comprehensive understanding of its neuroprotective effect is helpful to exploit new treatment paths for I/R, provide clinicians with new clinical treatment decisions, contribute to the effective treatment of I/R patients and the improvement of quality of life after I/R healing. Our results suggest that the inhalation of low-dose sevoflurane through a face mask can provide effective and safe rescue sedation in 1- to 6-year-old outpatient children undergoing MRI, and yields a higher success rate, shorter induction and recovery times, and higher satisfaction than the intranasal ketamine method.

Our study showed that there were no significant differences in the frequency of NK cells, total T lymphocytes, regulatory T cells, and T-helper cells, cytotoxic T lymphocytes, and their subpopulations between the propofol-based and sevoflurane-based anesthesia group, when the anesthesia was administered in combination with epidural analgesia. The results of the current pilot study did not support the hypothesis that the suppression of the cell-mediated immunity is worse under the use of inhalational anesthesia as compared to total intravenous anesthesia, in patients undergoing kidney cancer surgery under combined low thoracic epidural analgesia and general anesthesia.

Subcutaneous administration of recombinant TNF-α elevated these cytokine levels in the hippocampus, and resulted in cognitive decline in TLR4 mice exposed to sevoflurane. Taken together, our results identify the crucial role of TLR4 in sevoflurane-induced cognitive decline, and showed that TLR4 mediated pro-inflammatory cytokine response to sevoflurane, and consequent cognitive decline in aged mice exposed to sevoflurane, and imply a novel target for improvement and therapy of sevoflurane-associated cognitive decline.

The dead space to tidal volume ratios at 30 (20.5±6.4% vs. 26.3±6.0%, p = 0.042) and 60 min (19.6±5.1% vs. 24.8±5.5%, p = 0.007) and the incidence of bronchospasm (odds ratio [OR] 0.45, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.23-0.67, p = 0.023) and respiratory infiltration (OR 0.52, 95% CI, 0.40-0.65, p = 0.017) were lower in the salbutamol group. In patients with COPD, salbutamol accelerates the wash-in rate of sevoflurane and decreases the occurrence of postoperative bronchospasm and pulmonary infiltration within the first 7 days.
