Fluoxetine, sertraline, escitalopram, duloxetine, bupropion, atomoxetine, reboxetine, armodafinil, disulfiram, baclofen, zonisamide, lamotrigine, topiramate, samidorphan, liraglutid, and orlistat need more trials in order to validate their efficacy, especially on long term. Conclusions There is only one drug currently FDA approved for this indication, lisdexamfetamine, and a number of psychotherapies, with CBT and IPT being the most supported by evidence.

Levels of functioning were assessed on the PSP scale. Results The manifestation of psychosis was identified in 21.0% (17 patients) (on average in the third year of follow-up), complete symptomatic and functional remission was established in 11.1% (9 patients) (PSP 100-81), complete symptomatic and incomplete functional remission was established in 27.2% (22 patients) (PSP 80-61). Incomplete symptomatic and incomplete functional remission – in 24.7% (20 patients) (PSP 60-41) and 13.5% (11 patients) (PSP<40). Conclusions The combination of antidepressants and antipsychotics therapy in patients with the clinical high-risk state for psychosis reduced the risk of psychosis manifestation but did not significantly affect the level of outcome compared to other studies.

The average scores of the areas of sexuality studied by this scale were 3.93 ± 0.52 for sexual desire; 18.80 ± 5.68 for erectile function; 8.93 ± 8.97 for orgasmic function; 5.13 ± 1.10 for satisfaction with intercourse and 4.13 ± 1.16 for overall satisfaction. After 2 months of use of the antidepressant treatment, there was a statistically significant improvement in sexual functions: significant increase in the total score of the IIEF15 (p <0.001), and in the mean scores of the areas of sexuality. Conclusions Antidepressant treatment could, by improving post-traumatic symptoms, improve sexual dysfunction.

These data suggest that the impairment of dams maternal behavior combined with the amount of fluoxetine that the offspring received through breast milk during lactation did not alter their social behavior in infancy and/or adulthood, suggesting no neurodevelopmental damage associated with maternal use of fluoxetine. This study contributes to the field of human psychiatric diseases by further elucidating the effects of antidepressant medications on the health of mothers as well as children who were passively exposed to drug treatment.

Results of this analysis suggest that initiation of certain antidepressants was associated with an increased risk for serious medical sequelae among patients concurrently receiving beta-blockers. Greater risk was observed with antidepressants, which potently inhibit the CYP2D6 enzyme, implying that increased morbidity may be mediated by a metabolic drug interaction.

These findings demonstrated the antidepressant effects of resveratrol and suggested that resveratrol was able to promote mitochondrial biogenesis, enhance ATP and 5-HT levels, as well as upregulate GAP-43 expression in the hippocampus. These results suggest that TWIST1 in the medial prefrontal cortex mediates chronic stress-induced dendritic remodeling and facilitates the occurrence of depressive-like behavior, providing new information for developing drug targets for depression therapy.

Our approach can be further replicated to study the mechanisms of action of newly developed drugs.

Finally, administration of antidepressant fluoxetine in mice for 16 days induced Arcadlin expression in the hippocampus. Our data indicate that the Arcadlin-p38 MAP kinase pathway is a candidate neural network modulator that is activated in hippocampal neurons under the dual regulation of serotonin and glutamate and, hence, may play a role in antidepressant therapies.

Forty-two male Wistar rats were assigned to seven groups (n = 6); group I received corn oil (p.o, unstressed control), group II (stressed control) administered corn oil, groups III-IV received EOMM (150 & 300 mg/kg, p.o), groups V - VI received EOXA (150 & 300 mg/kg, p.o) whereas group VII had fluoxetine (10 mg/kg, p.o in d/w)...The EOXA especially at a dose of 300 mg/kg b.wt is more effective than EOMM even at 300 mg/kg dose level in ameliorating depression in stressed rats. In conclusion, the study revealed that both the EOXA and EOMM relieved depression-like states through the mitigation of oxidative stress with a reduction in serum Corticosterone (CORT) and brain Monoamine Oxidase-A (MAO-A) levels.

The FDA used the priority review process for 3 drugs (fluoxetine, clomipramine, and esketamine)...The median market entry 30-DDD WAC was $14.61 for imipramine hydrochloride, the only drug approved in 1978-1979; $33.00 for fluoxetine hydrochloride, the only drug approved in the 1980s; $48.30 (IQR: $16.06) for the 9 drugs approved in 1990s; $104.25 (IQR $93.54) for the 5 drugs approved in the 2000s; $133.50 for desvenlafaxine, the only drug approved in the 2010s; and $445.27 for esketamine, approved in 2020...CONCLUSIONS The WAC per 30-DDD at market entry of antidepressant drugs increased significantly in the period 1978-2020, exceeding the growth of both the CPI and the GDP. Price increases of new drugs at market entry limit affordability of drugs for patients and third-party payers.

To the best of our knowledge, this was the first study using physical exercise as a therapeutic and preventive tool for chronic pain and depressive-like behavior simultaneously induced by social stress.
