Our data support the approach of offering a seven-day doxycycline course routinely for asymptomatic or clinically mild C. trachomatis infections, and contacts of LGV infection, regardless of their LGV status. This may simplify patient management, reduce cost and improve antimicrobial stewardship.

Thus while doxycycline is anti-inflammatory, it also induces mitochondrial dysfunction in aortic SMCs and causes SMC phenotypic switching, potentially contributing to aortic aneurysm pathology. The drug elamipretide helps mitigate the harmful effects of doxycycline on mitochondrial function in aortic SMC, and may be of interest for treatment of aneurysm diseases with pre-existing mitochondrial dysfunction.

This review discusses the achievements in research strategies and the development of new pharmaceutical formulations for the delivery of doxycycline in the treatment of wounds of various etiologies.

Using a doxycycline-inducible shRNA knockdown in OVCAR8 ovarian cancer cells both in vitro and in vivo, we demonstrate that SMARCE1 is a master regulator of genes encoding proinvasive proteases in a model of human ovarian cancer...In an orthotopic ovarian cancer xenograft model, theranostic nanoparticles were able to knockdown SMARCE1 which was in turn reported through a reduction in protease-activated urinary reporters. These LBL nanoparticles both silence gene products by delivering siRNA and noninvasively report on downstream target activity by delivering synthetic biomarkers to sites of disease, enabling dose-finding studies as well as longitudinal assessments of efficacy.

Overall, this study describes the development of an FtH overexpression NSCLC model and its correlation with T2* mapping for potential use in patients to interrogate iron metabolic alterations and predict clinical outcomes.

The use of minocycline microspheres and 0.2% chlorhexidine gel resulted in significant improvements in probing depths at 1 month, 3 months and 6 months and all treatments showed decline in the indicator bacteria. Thus, minocycline microspheres and 0.2% chlorhexidine gel is useful as an adjuvant for mechanical debridement in management of peri-implantitis.

The findings suggest that teenagers are generally exposed to low levels of antibiotics, that food and the environment may be the main sources of antibiotic exposure in teenagers, and that macrolide exposure may be associated with adolescent obesity.

Current control strategies are based on annual or biannual mass drug administration (MDA) of the drugs Ivermectin or Ivermectin plus Albendazole, respectively...A 4-6-week antibiotic therapy with doxycycline, for example, resulted in the loss of Wolbachia that subsequently led to extensive apoptosis of somatic cells, germline, embryos, and microfilariae, as well as inhibition of fourth-stage larval development...All three drugs given orally significantly reduced Wolbachia loads and induced an increase in levels of lysosome-associated membrane protein in worms from treated animals, suggesting that Niclosamide, NEN, and Rottlerin were effective in causing drug-induced autophagy in these filarial worms. These repurposed drugs provide a new avenue for the clearance of adult worms in filarial infections.
