In this randomized controlled trial, doxycycline did not significantly decrease P. acnes culture positivity of the skin, dermis, or glenohumeral joint of patients undergoing shoulder arthroplasty. The addition of prophylactic intravenous antibiotics to cover P. acnes may not be an effective method to reduce postoperative and periprosthetic shoulder joint infections.

...The goal of the current study was to engineer cartilage and bone constructs with the ability to inhibit aberrant inflammatory processes caused by the cytokine interleukin-1 (IL-1), through scaffold-mediated delivery of lentiviral particles containing a doxycycline-inducible IL-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1Ra) transgene on anatomically-shaped CDM constructs...Our findings demonstrate that site-specific delivery of inducible and tunable transgenes confers spatial and temporal control over both CDM scaffold remodeling and neotissue composition. Furthermore, these constructs provide a microphysiological in vitro joint organoid model with site-specific, tunable, and inducible protein delivery systems for examining the spatiotemporal response to pro-anabolic and/or inflammatory signaling across the osteochondral interface.

The next day the patient received the serology results in which IgM + antibodies are checked for Coxiella Brunetti, so that samples are sent to analyze anti-phase I, anti-phase II and IgA antibodies, all of them positive, for which treatment with doxycycline is initiated...It is important to ask for a serology in a patient with acute liver disease and also ask for blood cultures if fever is associated. Normally acute hepatitis will not be serious, but they are ICU criteria if the patient presents encephalopathy, INR> 1.5 or ascites, so it is very important to recognize these manifestations to start intensive treatment immediately.

In sum, ACSL4 may be regarded as a novel therapeutic target regulating the expression of transporters involved in anticancer drug resistance through the mTOR pathway to restore drug sensitivity in tumors with poor prognosis for disease-free and overall survival.

...The HEK 293T cell lines stably expressing NS1-100 and NS1-70 proteins were established by screening resistant cells with puromycin and inducing NS1 expression with doxycycline...The results showed that NS1 protein was expressed stably in the established cell lines and had a strong activation activity on the HBoV1 promoter driving luciferase gene. Taken together, this study provides a solid basis for further research on the function of NS1 and the pathogenesis of human bocavirus.

for 14 days, and Group III: 10 patients prescribed with doxycycline 200 mg o.d. as booster dose followed by successive doses of 100 mg o.d. for 21 days...Reduction in PI, GI, PPD, and CAL after 2 weeks and 3 months from baseline in all the three groups was seen; intergroup comparison showed more reduction in PPD and GI and more gain in CAL in Groups II and III after 3 months when compared with Group I. No statistical difference was seen between Groups II and III. Within the limits of this study, it can be concluded that antibiotic administration as an adjunct to conventional flap surgery helps in improving clinical parameters.

The expressions of TGF-β1, a-SMA, Smad3 and Smad2 in the paraquat+doxycycline group were significantly lower than those in the paraquat group, but still higher than the blank group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05) . Doxycycline inhibits paraquat-induced pulmonary fibrosis by inhibiting the expression of TGF-β1, a-SMA and Smad3, Smad2 proteins.
