    Journal:  Smallest unit of maximal entropy as novel experimental criterion for parametric characterization of middle- and high-entropy materials. (Pubmed Central) -  Apr 2, 2024
    Based on our calculations we propose a new parametric entropy-based criterion, which defines critical scale parameter transition from the maximal entropy state to the entropy-depleted state of the system. The criterion could be used for generalized mechanistic assessment of the effect of the entropy of mixing on the characteristics of the materials with multiple principal elements and for the development and characterization of existing and new middle- and high-entropy materials with both simple single-, and more complex, multiple-sublattice structures.

    Journal:  Ideal plasticity and shape memory of nanolamellar high-entropy alloys. (Pubmed Central) -  Oct 13, 2023
    Here, we construct nanolamellar AlCoCuFeNi HEAs with alternating high- and low-Al concentration layers and explore their mechanical properties using a combination of molecular dynamic simulation and density functional theory calculation...Unexpectedly, this ideal plasticity is fully reversible upon unloading, leading to a remarkable shape memory effect. Our work highlights the importance of nanolamellar structures in controlling the mechanical and functional properties of HEAs and presents a fascinating route for the design of HEAs for both functional and structural applications.

    Journal:  Construction and Evaluation of Hyaluronic Acid-Coated Flurbiprofen-Layered Double Hydroxide Ocular Drug Delivery System. (Pubmed Central) -  Oct 28, 2022
    The fluorescent substance-fluoresce isothiocyanate (FITC) was substituted for FB intercalation in LDH for in vitro tissue imaging study of rabbits, whose results stated clearly that FITC-LDH and HA-FITC-LDH could both prolong the precorneal residence time of drugs, and HA-FITC-LDH could increase the corneal permeability of the drug to a certain extent. To sum up, HA-FB-LDH, which can overcome the shortcomings of low bioavailability of traditional eye drops to a certain degree, is a safe and effective ophthalmic drug delivery system.

    Journal:  Formulation and Evaluation of Thermosensitive Flurbiprofen In Situ Nano Gel for the Ocular Delivery. (Pubmed Central) -  Nov 4, 2021
    Greater concentration of drug in aqueous humor was due to its improved saturation solubility of the drug, and amplified residence time was attributed to the formation of gel matrix-embedded nanoparticles. This demonstrated that in situ nano gels (NIGF3) comprehending aqueous solutions of 0.3% w/v concentrations of Carbopol 934 with Pluronic F 127 may ominously persist the residence time and mend bioavailability of a water-insoluble drug.

    Review, Journal:  A Systematic Review of Flurbiprofen 8.75 mg Dose and Risk of Haemorrhagic Events. (Pubmed Central) -  Aug 24, 2021
    Counts were low across all studies and results comparing flurbiprofen and placebo treatment arms were non-significant. However, scarcity of studies and low certainty of evidence for the outcome of haemorrhagic events limits the conclusions of this systematic review.

    Journal:  Simultaneously enhancing the ultimate strength and ductility of high-entropy alloys via short-range ordering. (Pubmed Central) -  Aug 18, 2021
    Here, we investigate a CoCuFeNiPd high-entropy alloy (HEA), using a combination of Monte Carlo method, molecular dynamic simulation, and density-functional theory calculation...The SRO-induced composite microstructure consists of three categories of clusters: face-center-cubic-preferred (FCCP) clusters, indifferent clusters, and body-center-cubic-preferred (BCCP) clusters, with the indifferent clusters playing the role of the matrix, the FCCP clusters serving as hard fillers to enhance the strength, while the BCCP clusters acting as soft fillers to increase the ductility. Our work highlights the importance of SRO in influencing the mechanical properties of HEAs and presents a fascinating route for designing HEAs to achieve superior mechanical properties.

    Journal:  Optimizing Ophthalmic Delivery of a Poorly Water Soluble Drug from an Aqueous In situ gelling system. (Pubmed Central) -  Jun 3, 2021
    The percentage of drug permeation through the cornea was 55% in 300 min whereas the marketed non gelling eye drop formulation containing FBP sodium showed only 37% permeation. The data presented here, revealed that not only could a poorly soluble drug be complexed with cyclodextrin and loaded into an in situ gelling system without interfering with the gelation, but also permeability the of the drug improved.

    Journal:  An advancement in the synthesis of unique soft magnetic CoCuFeNiZn high entropy alloy thin films. (Pubmed Central) -  Apr 26, 2021
    The fabricated Co-Cu-Fe-Ni-Zn HEA thin films exhibited high saturation magnetization value of ~ 82 emu/g, relatively low coercivity value of 19.5 Oe and remanent magnetization of 1.17%. Irrespective of the alloying of diamagnetic Zn and Cu with ferromagnetic Fe, Co, Ni elements, the HEA thin film has resulted in relatively high saturation magnetization which can provide useful insights for its potential unexplored applications.

    ineye® - an ocular insert for simultaneous but distinct release profiles of moxifloxacin and flurbiprofen for ocular surgery prophylaxis (Exhibit Hall: Posterboard# A0129) -  Mar 9, 2020 - Abstract #ARVO2020ARVO_3470;
    In the present study it was demonstrated that a single ineye® can replace two bottles of eye-drops on preventing inflammation and infection before and after an ocular surgery.ineye® is a new ocular device that can release two drugs for several weeks at distinct rates, making it a very promising technology for overcome the low efficacy of eye drops and to improve patients' adherence to the treatment of ocular diseases. This small spherical, pearl-like ocular insert will be placed behind the eyelid and as it is made of highly biocompatible materials it will not interfere with vision and will not cause any discomfort or foreign-body sensation.This technology has a patent pending application in different countries, including the US, for the release of drugs and other active biomolecules for ocular surgery prophylaxis, glaucoma, dry eye and other diseases.
