We demonstrate that habituation to repetitive footshock involves two phases mediated by distinct neurons of the Drosophila mushroom bodies and require the function of the Btk non-receptor Tyrosine Kinase. Moreover, habituation failure upon Btk abrogation in neurons where it is required to facilitate the process is readily reversible by antipsychotics, providing conceptual links to particular symptoms of schizophrenia in humans, also characterized by habituation defects and ameliorated by these pharmaceuticals.

We report the case of a patient with delusional disorder who had failed to respond to risperidone but improved markedly with aripiprazole. Aripiprazole may show promise as a treatment for delusional disorder, possibly as a result of its effects on both dopaminergic and serotonergic receptors.

Clinicians must maintain a high index of suspicion of HG in patients presenting with acute psychosis even in the presence of functional illness so as to reduce morbidity, mortality and medicolegal risk.

Risperidone long-acting injectable was found to be effective in protecting from any mood/manic symptom compared to placebo, but not from depressive recurrences...In patients with BD-I with a manic episode at study enrolment, aripiprazole monohydrate significantly delayed time to recurrence of manic episodes without inducing depressive episodes...They showed better efficacy in preventing mania than depression. LAIs may be first-line for BD-I and SAD patients with a manic predominant polarity and with non-adherence problems.

This article reviews the evidence base on psychotropic medications, including all randomized trials, uncontrolled trials, and case reports for the treatment of anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, other specified feeding and eating disorders, binge-eating disorder, and avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder. Despite advances in the number of medication-based studies completed in young patients with eating disorders over the last 2 decades, significantly more work needs to be done in terms of identifying what role, if any, psychotropic medications can have on treatment outcomes.

Our study concluded that six-week olanzapine (6 mg/kg) treatment in control mice induced most of the clinically relevant physiological, biochemical and metabolic alterations (clinically relevant), that is independent of pharmacologically-induced psychosis.
