When compared with wild-type SNU-C5 cells, 5-fluorouracil-resistant SNU-C5 cells showed reduced autophagy, increased ferroptosis and ferroptosis-augmented apoptosis, and less activation of caspase-8 and p53. These results suggest that fenbendazole may be a potential alternative treatment in 5-fluorouracil-resistant cancer cells, and the anticancer activity of fenbendazole does not require p53 in 5-fluorouracil-resistant SNU-C5 cells.

Although surgery (including hepatectomy, liver transplantation, and autologous liver transplantation) is the first choice for the treatment of hepatic alveolar echinococcosis in clinic, drug treatment still plays an important and irreplaceable role in patients with end-stage echinococcosis, including patients with multiple organ metastasis, patients with inferior vena cava invasion, or patients with surgical contraindications, etc. However, Albendazole is the only recommended clinical drug which could exhibit a parasitostatic rather than a parasitocidal effect...Further, nano drug delivery systems boosting the therapeutic effect on hepatic alveolar echinococcosis are also reviewed. Taken together, these might contribute to the development of novel strategy for advanced hepatic alveolar echinococcosis.

Therapy against strongyles was performed with albendazole and ivermectin...The growth of P. equorum eggs in the feces was observed from the 56 day (8 weeks) after therapy with fenbendazole, from the 42 day (6 weeks) after therapy with ivermectin, and was observed from the 84 day (12 weeks) after the use of aversectin. Our study shows widespread reductions in nematode ERPs across the Moscow Region after ivermectin therapy in horses, suggesting that additional monitoring of these farms is needed for effective control of anthelmintic resistance.

The differences observed in the concentrations of metabolites from the OXF treated group showed that the drug induced gluconeogenesis, increase in protein catabolism, fatty acids oxidation and propionate fermentation in comparison to the ABZ and control treated groups. In conclusion, OXF induced greater metabolic impact in T. crassiceps cysticerci than the standard NCC treatment, ABZ, showing that it may represent an alternative drug for its treatment.

The protoscoleces were divided into a control group, an albendazole (ABZ) positive control group and LCA intervention groups at concentrations of 0.5, 1, 2, and 3 mmol/L and stained with 0.1% eosin for observation using an inverted microscope; the protoscolecal ultrastructure was examined with SEM and TEM; the activities of ROS, SOD, and caspase-3 were investigated using an ROS kit, SOD kit, and caspase-3 kit, respectively; the contents of HO-1 and NQO-1 were analyzed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay; and the expression level of cytochrome c (Ctyc) was analyzed by western blotting...LCA demonstrated a parasiticidal effect on the protoscoleces of Echinococcus granulosus in vitro. LCA may induce apoptosis of E. granulosus protoscoleces by oxidative stress and mitochondrial pathways.
