Journal:  Electrochemical profiling and LC-MS characterization of synthetic cathinones: from methodology to detection in forensic samples. (Pubmed Central) -  Dec 30, 2021
First, the electrochemical profile of five common SC (i.e., mephedrone, ethcathinone, methylone, butylone, and 4-chloro-alpha-pyrrolidinovalerophenone) is collected to build calibration curves using square wave voltammetry on graphite screen-printed electrodes (SPEs)...Finally, the electrochemical approach is validated with gas-chromatography-mass spectrometry by analyzing 26 confiscated samples from seizures and illegal webshops. Overall, the electrochemical method exhibits a successful classification of SC including structural derivatives, a crucial attribute in an ever-diversifying drug market.

Journal:  Chemoproteomic Profiling of Covalent XPO1 Inhibitors to Assess Target Engagement and Selectivity. (Pubmed Central) -  Dec 30, 2021
Selinexor, a covalent XPO1 inhibitor, is approved in the USA in combination with dexamethasone for penta-refractory multiple myeloma...Herein, we report clickable probes based on the XPO1 inhibitors selinexor and eltanexor for the labeling of XPO1 in live cells to assess target engagement and selectivity...Thermal profiling analysis of selinexor further offers an orthogonal approach to measure XPO1 engagement in live cells. We believe these probes and assays will serve as useful tools to further interrogate the biology of XPO1 and its inhibition in cellular and in vivo systems.

Clinical, Journal, Real-world evidence, CINV:  Prevention of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting in the real-world setting in Spain. (Pubmed Central) -  Dec 30, 2021
We believe these probes and assays will serve as useful tools to further interrogate the biology of XPO1 and its inhibition in cellular and in vivo systems. The use of NKRA-containing regimens for CINV prevention in patients treated with HEC was less than expected, suggesting poor adherence to international antiemetic guidelines.

Review, Journal:  A Systematic Review on COVID-19 Vaccine Strategies, Their Effectiveness, and Issues. (Pubmed Central) -  Dec 29, 2021
COVID-19 vaccines are indispensable, with the number of cases and mortality still rising, and currently no medicines are routinely available for reducing morbidity and mortality, apart from dexamethasone, although others are being trialed and launched...Overall, global variant surveillance and systematic tweaking of vaccines, coupled with the evaluation and administering vaccines with the same or different technology in successive doses along with homologous and heterologous prime-booster strategy, have become essential to impede the pandemic. Their effectiveness appreciably outweighs any concerns with any adverse events.
