Wistar rats were randomly assigned to one of four groups: the control group, the dexamethasone (DEX) group and one of two BSS-treated osteoporosis groups (100 and 200 mg/kg)...However, except in the DEX group, the endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) color reaction in osteoblasts was strongly positive in the other 3 groups. These results suggest that BSS showed promising effects in protection against glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis by protecting osteoblasts and suppressing osteoclastogenesis.

The release of three model ophthalmic drugs with varying hydrophilicity, atropine, atropine sulfate and dexamethasone, was examined...The results suggest that the modification of the materials with PBA was able to not only provide a mucoadhesive property that enhanced wetting agent interactions with the materials, but had the potential to alter drug release. Thus, the modification of contact lens materials with mucoadhesive functionality may be useful in the design of hydrogel contact lenses for ophthalmic drug release and wetting agent binding.

Further large-scale, placebo-controlled studies in a more homogeneous patient population presenting a uniform pattern of neural autoantibodies should be undertaken.

Our results suggest that the transgenic MCP-1-Luc mouse is a useful model to study MCP-1 expression in inflammation and disease and to evaluate the efficiency of anti-inflammatory drugs in vivo.

Intralesional triamcinolone acetonide injection and preventive endoscopic balloon dilation did not appear to reduce the frequency of stricture formation after whole circumferential endoscopic resection...Tissue engineering and regenerative medicine such as oral mucosal epithelial cell sheets cultured in vitro have been used in patients to prevent esophageal stricture, but it is technically and financially burdensome. Autologous tissue transplantation showed a promising preventive effect for esophageal stricture and it is relatively easy to carry out in clinical practice, and this technique needs further improvements to prevent esophageal stricture after whole circumferential endoscopic resection.
