Journal: Isoflurane Postconditioning Alleviates Ischemic Neuronal Injury via MiR-384-5p Regulated Autophagy. (Pubmed Central) - Apr 11, 2023 Immunofluorescence staining and western blot results confirmed that isoflurane post-conditioning inhibited autophagy in MCAO rats. Based on the above results, we speculated that the molecular mechanism of isoflurane post-conditioning to alleviate ischemic neuronal injury may be related to the regulation of miR-384-5p/ATG5-mediated autophagy.

Journal, PARP Biomarker: PRKAA1 induces aberrant mitophagy in a PINK1/Parkin-dependent manner, contributing to fluoride-induced developmental neurotoxicity. (Pubmed Central) - Apr 10, 2023 Remarkably, the application of both 3-methyladenosine (3-MA; autophagy inhibitor) and dorsomorphin (DM; AMPK inhibitor) suppressed NaF-induced neuronal apoptosis by restoring aberrant mitophagy...Collectively, our findings indicated that NaF causes aberrant mitophagy via PRKAA1 in a PINK1/Parkin-dependent manner, which triggers neuronal apoptosis. Thus, regulating PRKAA1-activated PINK1/Parkin-dependent mitophagy may be a potential treatment for NaF-induced developmental neurotoxicity.

- |||||||||| Review, Journal: Autophagy orchestrates resistance in hepatocellular carcinoma cells. (Pubmed Central) - Apr 3, 2023
In this review, we further highlight how autophagy leads to poor response during treatment through a complex molecular network and how it enhances resistance in primary liver cancer. We propose that combinational regimens of approved HCC therapeutic protocols plus autophagy inhibitors may overcome drug resistance in HCC therapy.

Review, Journal: Autophagy in cancer resistance to paclitaxel: Development of combination strategies. (Pubmed Central) - Apr 3, 2023 A modern strategy in anticancer research is also to encapsulate chemotherapeutics into nanoparticle carriers or develop their novel derivatives with improved anticancer properties. Hence, in this review article, we summarize not only the current knowledge of paclitaxel-induced autophagy and its role in cancer resistance but mainly the possible drug combinations based on paclitaxel and their administration in nanoparticle-based formulations as well as paclitaxel analogs with autophagy-modulating properties.
- |||||||||| Harnessing cell energy metabolism to suppress salivary gland inflammation in Sj?gren Syndrome (Poster View) - Apr 2, 2023 - Abstract #EULAR2023EULAR_2091;
A metabolic driven pro-inflammatory status of SS SGECs seems confirmed by increased basal expression of IL-6. Validation of our metabolomic results, along with transcriptomic and epigenetic studies, is currently ongoing in SGECs from SS and sicca to dissect the link between changes in cell energy metabolism and their acquired pro-inflammatory phenotype.
- |||||||||| INTERMITTENT FASTING REDUCES CRYSTAL-INDUCED INFLAMMATION (Poster View) - Apr 2, 2023 - Abstract #EULAR2023EULAR_1662;
Conclusion Intermittent fasting alleviates crystal-induced inflammation by altering many metabolic pathways, particularly those associated with glutamine and glutamate. Further studies are needed to determine how IF modulates metabolism to dampen crystal-induced inflammation.

Journal: Glyphosate-induced autophagy inhibition results in hepatic steatosis via mediating epigenetic reprogramming of PPAR? in roosters. (Pubmed Central) - Mar 28, 2023 Moreover, data substantiated that Gly-mediated autophagy inhibition caused nuclear increase of HDAC3, which altered epigenetic modification of PPAR?, leading to fatty acid oxidation (FAO) inhibition and subsequently lipid accumulation in the hepatocytes. In summary, this study provides novel evidence that Gly-induced autophagy inhibition evokes the inactivation of PPAR?-mediated FAO and concomitant hepatic steatosis in roosters by mediating epigenetic reprogramming of PPAR?.
- |||||||||| Journal: Autophagy and exosomes coordinately mediate quercetin's protective effects on alcoholic liver disease. (Pubmed Central) - Mar 26, 2023
Baf A treatment or transfection of siTFEB offset quercetin's effects in ethanol-induced LDH and ALT elevation, exosomes release, and autophagy inhibition (LC3II/I and p62 accumulation). Taken together, quercetin coordinately activates autophagy and combats exosomes release by restoring lysosome function, and further mitigates ethanol-induced liver damage.
- |||||||||| Journal: Research progress of the regulatory role of autophagy in metabolic liver diseases (Pubmed Central) - Mar 25, 2023
Drugs that have an effect on autophagy can either promote or inhibit autophagy, and as a result, it can either increase or inhibit the three major nutritional metabolisms that are affected by liver disease. Thus, this opens up a novel therapeutic option for liver disease.

Journal: The interplay between lncRNA NR_030777 and SF3B3 in neuronal damage caused by paraquat. (Pubmed Central) - Mar 25, 2023 The expression of SF3B3 protein was reduced in Neuro-2a cells after PQ exposure, and the reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenger N-acetylcysteine prevented this decline...Moreover, after intervention with the autophagy inhibitor Bafilomycin A1, LC3B-II protein expression was further increased in Neuro-2a cells with the knockdown of SF3B3, indicating that autophagy was enhanced. In conclusion, PQ modulated the interplay between NR_030777 and SF3B3 through ROS production, thereby impairing autophagic flux and causing neuronal damage.

(Pubmed Central) - Mar 25, 2023 The STZ-induced DM mice model was treated with G-Rg1 alone or combined with 3-Methyladenine (3-MA, an autophagy inhibitor)/rapamycin (RAPA, an autophagy activator) for 8 weeks, and levels of glucose and lipid metabolism, histopathological changes, as well as autophagy and apoptosis of relevant markers were estimated...Furthermore, these anti-apoptosis effects of G-Rg1 were partially abolished by 3-MA and CC. Our findings revealed that G-Rg1 exhibits strong anti-apoptosis ability in pancreatic tissues of type 1 diabetic mice and HG-induced RIN-m5F cells, and the mechanisms involved in activating AMPK and inhibiting mTOR-mediated autophagy, indicating that G-Rg1 may have the therapeutic and preventive potential for treating pancreatic injury in diabetic patients.

- |||||||||| Journal: Role of autophagy in simulated ischemic-reperfused left atrial myocardium. (Pubmed Central) - Mar 24, 2023
The observation of greater deterioration in mitochondrial structure and function when this process was inhibited, suggests an association between autophagy and the structural and functional preservation of mitochondria. Exogenous metabolic substrates, to which the myocardium is exposed during ischemia-reperfusion, might not affect this process.
