Journal: Strongyloides stercoralis infection in dogs in Austria: two case reports. (Pubmed Central) - May 24, 2022 More attention should be paid to this nematode because although it appears to be rare in Austria, it is easily overlooked on standard coproscopy unless a Baermann funnel technique is used, and even then, it can be missed. Moxidectin is not always successful in eliminating the infection, and treatment with ivermectin should be considered in cases of infection.

Review, Journal: Clinical update on COVID-19 for the emergency and critical care clinician: Medical management. (Pubmed Central) - May 22, 2022 Moxidectin is not always successful in eliminating the infection, and treatment with ivermectin should be considered in cases of infection. This review provides a focused update of the medical management of COVID-19 for emergency and critical care clinicians to help improve care for these patients.

Review, Journal: Pharmacological interventions to prevent Covid-19 disease: A rapid review. (Pubmed Central) - May 20, 2022 The designations 'low' and 'very low' regarding the certainty of evidence indicate that the estimate of effect is uncertain and therefore is unsuitable for informing decision-making. At the time of writing, there is insufficient high quality evidence to support the use of pharmacological interventions to prevent Covid-19.

CHALLENGES IN DIAGNOSIS, MANAGEMENT AND TREATMENT OF ISONIAZID-INDUCED DRESS SYNDROME () - May 19, 2022 - Abstract #ESPID2022ESPID_821; DRESS symptoms progressively disappeared and a second line treatment with levofloxacin, linezolid, clofazimine and streptomycin was started seven days later for 2 months...The LTT is highly useful in the diagnosis of severe drug reactions minimizing treatment interruption, without compromising efficacy. Strengthening screening for infectious diseases among newly arrived migrants is key to start prompt treatment.

Journal: Forging Ahead the Repositioning of Multitargeted Drug Ivermectin. (Pubmed Central) - May 18, 2022 Due to its broad-spectrum activity, multitargeted nature and promising efforts are put towards the repurposing of this drug throughout the field of medicine. This single drug originated from a microbe, changed the face of global health by proving its unmatched success and progressive efforts continue in maintaining its bequestnin the management of global health by decreasing the burden of various diseases worldwide.

Journal, IO biomarker: COVID-19: Implications Regarding the Properties and Behaviors of the Coronavirus Disease. (Pubmed Central) - May 14, 2022 Globally the most frequently utilized pharmacologic treatments include ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine, glucocorticoids, the anti-viral agent remdesivir, monoclonal antibodies, and convalescent plasma in combination with an antimicrobial agent such as azithromycin to minimize secondary microbial infection and nutritional supplementation (vitamins C, D3, and zinc) to enhance cellular immune responses and are included in the routine protocols of some emergency rooms...(2020). Journal: Immune-related therapeutics: an update on antiviral drugs and vaccines to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic. (Pubmed Central) - May 12, 2022 This article also presents the intellectual groundwork for the ongoing development of vaccines in preclinical and clinical trials, explaining potential candidates (live attenuated-whole virus vaccines, inactivated vaccines, subunit vaccines, DNAbased vaccines, protein-based vaccines, nanoparticle-based vaccines, virus-like particles and mRNA-based vaccines). Designing and developing an effective vaccine (both prophylactic and therapeutic) would be a long-term solution and the most effective way to eliminate the COVID-19 pandemic.

Journal: Developing Immune Profiles of Endangered Australian Sea Lion (Neophoca cinerea) Pups Within the Context of Endemic Hookworm (Uncinaria sanguinis) Infection. (Pubmed Central) - May 10, 2022 Additionally, immunological differences between animals from high- and low-intensity hookworm seasons, as well as ivermectin-treated animals, indicate hookworm infection modulation of the host immune response, as evidenced by a lower IL-6 mRNA expression in the non-treated groups. This study of the Australian sea lion is an example of an ecoimmunological approach to disease investigation, which can be applied to evaluate the impact of environmental and anthropogenic factors on susceptibility to infectious diseases in free-ranging species.

Review, Journal: Development of Evidence-Based COVID-19 Management Guidelines for Local Context: The Methodological Challenges. (Pubmed Central) - May 9, 2022 However, evidence from our review and WHO v7.1 for the use of tocilizumab had some conflicting evidence, with data from our review until December 2020 supporting only a weak recommendation for its use, compared to the strong recommendation by the WHO for the use of tocilizumab in patients with severe or critical COVID-19 infection...Research data about the efficacy and safety of pharmacological interventions to treat hospitalized patients with COVID-19 are rapidly evolving, and based on it, the evidence for or against recommendations changes accordingly. Our study illustrates the challenges of keeping up with the evidence; the recommendations were based on studies up till December 2021, and we have compared our recommendations with the WHO v7.1, which showed some significant changes in the use of pharmacological treatment options.

Journal: Effect of Early Treatment with Ivermectin among Patients with Covid-19. (Pubmed Central) - May 7, 2022 P3 Treatment with ivermectin did not result in a lower incidence of medical admission to a hospital due to progression of Covid-19 or of prolonged emergency department observation among outpatients with an early diagnosis of Covid-19. (Funded by FastGrants and the Rainwater Charitable Foundation; TOGETHER ClinicalTrials.gov number, NCT04727424.).
