To our knowledge, this is the first Italian experience in which a single dose of ivermectin has been implemented for mass pre-emptive therapy in asymptomatic primary contacts of classical scabies, showing excellent efficacy of the drug even when used as a single dose.

Proper screening to identify asymptomatic cases of strongyloidiasis, followed by empirical treatment of screening-positive cases, prompt detection, and management of severe manifestations, is crucial to reduce further morbidity and mortality related to Strongyloides stercoralis.

The patient underwent upper endoscopy four times to control the bleeding and was treated with ivermectin and ganciclovir...To the best of our knowledge, this is also the first case of coinfection of these pathogens in an immunocompromised patient complicated with hypovolemic shock caused by GI bleeding and diabetic ketoacidosis. Clinicians should have a high index of suspicion and test simultaneously CMV and Strongyloides stercoralis in patients with immunosuppression, other risk factors, or unexplained gastrointestinal symptoms.

While early results are promising, more research is needed to confirm whether ivermectin can be a reliable treatment for epilepsy in people affected by this condition.

Although the combined results confirm that H. contortus survived quarantine in two rams, in the other cases it is not clear whether the spring infection rates are due to re-emergence of persistent larvae from quarantine or reinfection on the new farm. These results suggest not only that we should recommend that sheep farmers use a more sensitive molecular test when purchasing and introducing new animals to their flock, but also that the reliability of injectable ivermectin as a quarantine treatment for removal of adult and larval stages needs further investigation.

In this context, we reviewed the mechanisms of several drugs proposed to treat COVID-19, including Ivermectin, Chloroquine/Hydroxychloroquine, and Azithromycin, as well as the phase III clinical trials that evaluated the efficacy of these drugs for treating patients with this respiratory disease. As the main finding, although Ivermectin, Chloroquine/Hydroxychloroquine, and Azithromycin might have mechanistic effects against SARS-CoV-2 infection, most phase III clinical trials observed no treatment benefit in patients with COVID-19, underscoring the need for robust phase III clinical trials.

A single round of ivermectin-based mass drug administration substantially reduced the prevalence of scabies and impetigo in this setting with moderate scabies prevalence in northern India.
