Journal:  Fruit Peel Powder as Natural Antioxidant and Reinforcing Bio-Filler in Natural Rubber Latex Gloves: Cases of Mangosteen, Pomelo and Durian. (Pubmed Central) -  May 27, 2023
Furthermore, by comparing the tensile strength and elongation at break of the developed FPP/NRL gloves with the requirements for medical examination latex gloves according to ASTM D3578-05, the recommended FPP contents for actual glove production were 2-4 phr for MPP, 4 phr for PPP, and 2 phr for DPP. Consequently, based on the overall outcomes, the FPPs of interest showed promising potential for utilization as simultaneous natural antioxidants and reinforcing bio-fillers in NRL gloves, which would not only enhance the strength and ability of the gloves to resist oxidative degradation from heat and gamma irradiation but also increase their economical value as well as reducing the amounts of the investigated wastes.

Journal:  A Comparative Study on X-ray Shielding and Mechanical Properties of Natural Rubber Latex Nanocomposites Containing BiO or BaSO: Experimental and Numerical Determination. (Pubmed Central) -  Sep 13, 2022
In addition, the modified procedures introduced in this work enabled the developed nanocomposites to acquire sufficient mechanical and X-ray shielding properties for potential use as medical X-ray protective gloves, with the recommended content of BiO and BaSO being in the range of 95-140 phr and 105-120 phr, respectively (in accordance with the requirements outlined in ASTM D3578-19 and the value of Pb being greater than 0.02 mmPb). Consequently, based on the overall outcomes of this work, the developed BiO/SVNRL and BaSO/SVNRL nanocomposites show great potential for effective application in medical X-ray protective gloves, while the modified procedures could possibly be adopted for large-scale production.

Journal:  Guayule Natural Rubber Latex and BiO Films for X-ray Attenuating Medical Gloves. (Pubmed Central) -  Feb 16, 2022
The films with 150 PHR BiO cured under near-optimal conditions (90 °C/85 min, and 87 °C/65 min) met both the radiation attenuation standard (ASTM D7866) and the natural latex surgeon and examination glove standards (ASTM D3577 and D3578, respectively). Thus, gloves made using our formulations and protocols demonstrated potential to meet and surpass medical natural latex glove standards, offer a single product for both infection control and radiation protection instead of double-gloving, provide a greater degree of comfort to the user, and simultaneously reduce contact reactions and eliminate potential latex allergic reaction.

Preclinical, Journal:  D-578, an orally active triple monoamine reuptake inhibitor, displays antidepressant and anti-PTSD effects in rats. (Pubmed Central) -  Mar 8, 2020
These findings suggest that D-578 has greater efficacy in normalizing traumatic stress-induced extinction-retention learning in a model for PTSD compared to paroxetine. Overall these results suggest that D-578, in addition to producing a robust and efficacious antidepressant effect, may attenuate maladaptive retention of fearful memories and support further testing of this agent for the pharmacotherapy of depression and PTSD.
