AKI is a frequent early complication of allo-HSCT in children, and approximately one fifth experience AKI recurrence and one third develop AKD. Older age, higher BMI, and higher eGFR at the day of transplant may have an effect on the risk of AKI development and its course.

At one year, a trend towards reduced renal failure was noted in the TAVR arm compared to the SAVR arm (n = 74 vs. n = 129, respectively; OR = 0.57, 95% CI = 0.32-1.01; p = 0.05, I = 69%). Conclusion Based on our findings and analysis, we have concluded that TAVR is associated with significantly reduced renal injury at 30 days when compared to SAVR.

With all due respect, elevated Cr is also an issue in all AKIs. Happens also that hyperkalemia is seen to some degree in all AKI. AKIs are heterogenous too. That didn't stop us from trying to properly sub phenotype them and tailor therapy. Time to move forward. (Twitter) - May 12, 2020

Regardless of surgical technique-open or endovascular-perioperative AKI is associated with significant morbidity, mortality and cost. Endovascular procedures always require administration of a contrast media, which may cause acute tubular necrosis or renal vascular embolization leading to renal ischemia and as a consequence, contribute to increased number of post-operative AKIs.

Clinical: Choosing the right Pt to stent is always a tough call. It appears that we've decided in our minds that medical therapy suits the pt and angioplasty/stent is frought with risks. In 1,000 patients from this group, personalized analgesia management is expected to reduce remifentanil use by 347 μg per patient and prevent 243 patients from experiencing IOH...This was made up of 8 MIs and 12 AKIs, saving 83 (IQR 65-94) inpatient days...CONCLUSIONS : Clinical outcomes data suggest that personalized and optimized analgesia management can prevent intraoperative adverse events and improve outcomes. Not only beneficial to patients, improved outcomes will likely reduce the burden of care on hospitals.

Our experiments revealed an additional pathway involved in the evolution of non-mutational resistance in Ph+ ALL which could assist in developing novel targeted therapy for Ph+ ALL patient(s) with non-mutational resistance.

...There were more cases of earlier AKIs that occurred after OLT in low oxygenation patients than that in normal group (47% versus 23.4%, P<0.001)...CONCLUSIONS The incidence of postoperative low oxygenation after liver transplantation in adults was 33.2%. BMI and early AKI after OLT were correlated with postoperative hypoxemia.
