The green route for recycling spent LIBs that this study proposes realizes the green and cost-effective conversion of LiCoO to high-value products, which may become an outstanding example of recycling spent LIBs.

After determining the optimal experimental conditions for inducing autophagy in loco with lithium carbonate (LiCO), we measured cell viability, reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and oxygen consumption with rat brain striatal slices from young and aged animals...Our data show that the striatum from younger animals benefits from lithium-mediated neuroprotection, while the striatum of older rats does not. These findings should be considered when developing neuroprotective strategies involving the induction of autophagy in aging.

Lithium may be used in patients on dialysis, with close monitoring of pre-dialysis serum lithium concentrations for at least two weeks after treatment initiation, followed by a lower frequency after concentrations have stabilized to ensure therapeutic concentrations and reduce toxicity risk.

In the former, there was an even distribution of the interactions occurring at the following functions: "positive regulation of protein localization to membrane," "regulation of protein localization to cell periphery," "oligodendrocyte differentiation," and "regulation of protein localization to plasma membrane." In cellular component, interactions were also balanced for "myelin sheath" and "rough endoplasmic reticulum." We conclude that neuronal-glial interactions are implicated in the neuroprotective response mediated by lithium in the hippocampus of AD-transgenic mice. The effect of lithium on homeostatic pathways mediated by the interaction between neurons and glial cells are implicated in membrane permeability, protein synthesis and DNA repair, which may be relevant for the survival of nerve cells amidst AD pathology.

Electrolyte conditions of 50 wt% sodium carbonate relative to lithium carbonate at an electrolysis temperature of 670 °C produced over 80% of the CNS desired product at 85% faradaic efficiency with a Muntz brass cathode and an Inconel anode.

It had previously been demonstrated that the addition of 5-10 wt% lithium metaborate to the lithium carbonate electrolyte boron dopes the CNTs increasing their electrical conductivity tenfold, and that the addition of calcium carbonate to a molten lithium carbonate supports the electrosynthesis of thinner walled CNTs, but at low yield (only ~ 15% of the product are CNTs). Here it is shown that the same electrolysis conditions, but with the addition of 7.7 wt% calcium metaborate to lithium carbonate, produces unusually thin walled CNTs uniform (22-42 nm diameter) CNTs consisting of ~ 25 concentric, cylindrical graphene walls at a high yield of > 90% CNTs.
