Co-administration of sub-effective doses of SeBZF1 (1 mg/kg, i.g.) and fluoxetine (5 mg/kg, i.p., selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) was effective in producing anti-immobility effects in the TST, revealing a synergistic effect...In summary, the present study demonstrated that SeBZF1 exerted antidepressant-like action in male mice which appears to be mediated by the serotonergic system. Moreover, SeBZF1 elicited in vitro antioxidant action in brain tissue, attenuated the hippocampal oxidative damage induced by 5-HT depletion in mice and showed no toxic signs.

Modulation of larvae serotonergic system was accomplished by 24 h exposure to single and opposite pharmacodynamics co-exposure to three model psychopharmaceuticals with antagonistic and agonistic serotonin signaling properties: 2.5 mM 4-Chloro-DL-phenylalanine (PCPA) and 5 µM deprenyl and 0.5 µM fluoxetine, respectively...Finally, co-exposure between agonistic and antagonist serotonin signaling drugs reviled full recovery of zebrafish impaired locomotor and defense responses, 5-HT synthesis gene expression, and partial recovery of 5-HT levels. The findings of this study suggest that zebrafish larvae can be highly sensitive and a useful vertebrate model for short-term exposure to serotonin signaling changes.

Collectively, these findings provide evidence that dysregulation of synaptic and non-synaptic transmission in the BLA PNs may account for neuroinflammation-induced anxiety- and depressive-like behavior.

Therefore, our results highlighted the protective role of Ori against CUMS-elicited insulin resistance.

Therefore, neurochemical, behavioral, and neurogenic results allow us to validate this refined protocol for voluntary oral consumption of PCPA.

Our results suggest that change in adolescents' attachment anxiety and avoidance may be an important mechanism of change in adolescents' dysfunctional thinking patterns.

In this article, we provide an overview of some antidepressants (citalopram, fluoxetine, paroxetine, sertraline) and antipsychotics (chlorpromazine, pimozide, thioridazine, trifluoperazine) that have the potential to be repurposed as novel chemotherapeutics in cancer treatment, as they have been found to exhibit preventive and/or therapeutic action in cancer patients. Nevertheless, although drug repurposing seems to be an attractive strategy to search for oncological drugs, we would like to clearly indicate that it should not replace the search for new lead structures, but only complement de novo drug development.

Switching episodes emerging before 12 weeks were associated with a lower defined daily dose of antidepressants than episodes emerging after 12 weeks. These findings suggest that there are two independent characteristics involved in manic/hypomanic switch in OCD: a) they appeared most frequently with SSRI use (fluoxetine) regardless of the time of it use, and b) episodes appeared in the first 12 weeks after SSRI or clomipramine initiation had a lower dose of antidepressant than episodes appeared after 12 weeks.

Mice were subjected to CUMS protocol for 4 weeks, and administered with PCA (100 and 200 mg/kg) and fluoxetine (20 mg/kg) for 24 days (from day 8th to 31st)...Administration of PCA to CUMS mice attenuated the immobility time, serum corticosterone, cytokines TNF-α, and IL-6, MDA formation and improved sucrose preference, including restoration of BDNF level. Thus, the present findings demonstrated the antidepressant potential of PCA which is largely achieved probably through maintaining BDNF level, and by modulation of the oxidative stress response, cytokines systems, and antioxidant defense system in mice.
