That methylone preexposure attenuated the aversive effects of the DA reuptake inhibitor MDPV suggests that methylone’s actions on DA likely mediate its (and MDPV’s) aversive effects That avoidance induced by the 5-HT substrate releaser fluoxetine was unaffected by methylone preexposure is consistent with this possibility. Together, these results suggest that drugs with common neurochemical substrates likely interact to impact abuse potential.
