    Quadriceps performance (peak torque, PT; rate of torque development from onset to 100ms, RTD100; and RTD from 100-200ms, RTD200) and CSE (active motor threshold, AMT; slope of the stimulus response curve, SR curve slope) were measured using an isokinetic dynamometer (HUMAC NORM) and transcranial magnetic stimulation respectively...Females after ACLR had worse surgical limb quadriceps PT than control males and slower RTD100 and RTD200 than control males and control females. Higher CSE in males after ACLR may point to a potentially adaptive neurological change in males post-ACLR and indicate greater need for novel interventions to address cortical drive in females after ACLR.

    Journal:  Rate of torque development as a discriminator of playing level in collegiate female soccer players. (Pubmed Central) -  Sep 10, 2022   
    Our findings indicate that RTD may be a better parameter than peak torque at differentiating between playing level in collegiate female soccer players. The discriminant analysis thresholds for the RTD variables demonstrated good sensitivity and specificity, and therefore, may be used as indices to identify players with a high degree of soccer playing ability.

    For each target volume, the obtained results in terms of gamma index passing rate show an agreement >95% with 5% 2 mm and 3% 2 mm criteria for both 2D and 3D distributions. The obtained results confirmed that the use of a single isocenter for multiple lesions reduces the treatment time without compromising accuracy, even in the case of target volumes that are quite distant from the isocenter.

    Our results show total energy and carbohydrate intake positively associate with strength indices following ACL injury. These findings underscore the importance of nutritional status to support functional recovery following ACL injury and highlight the need to study the role of carbohydrate intake needs during recovery from ACL injury.

    RTD was characterized with multiple variables: from contraction onset to 50, 100, and 200 ms (RTD0-50, RTD0-100, and RTD0-200, respectively), in sequence from 50 to 100 ms and 100 to 200 ms (RTD50-100 and RTD100-200), as the slope of 20-80% of peak torque (RTD20-80), and as the maximal instantaneous slope (RTDPeak)... Involved limb RTD and RTD LSI for RTD0-200, RTD20-80, and RTDPeak can be accurately assessed with reduced sampling rates, thereby facilitating use of clinically available equipment for assessing knee extensor RTD post-ACLR.

    Clinical, Journal:  Changes in Knee Extension and Flexion Maximal and Rapid Torque Characteristics During a Collegiate Women's Soccer Season. (Pubmed Central) -  May 6, 2022   
    Peak torque (PT) and rate of torque development (RTD) at 50 (RTD50), 200 (RTD200), and 100-200 (RTD100-200) milliseconds were extracted from each MVIC for both legs...These findings suggest that participation in a soccer season can change maximal and rapid torque production of the knee extensors and flexors. Coaches and clinicians should consider incorporating a season-long strength training and maintenance plan for soccer players with the aim to improve athletic performance and minimize the risk of musculoskeletal injuries to the lower extremities.

    Preoperative visual acuity, fundus and RNFL thickness were calculated using spectral-domain OCT Optovue, Heidelberg Engineering, Heidelberg, Germany (RT 100 version 5.1), and postoperative measurement was done after 1 and 3 months...It was also found that once optic disc pallor sets due to chronic compression, then chances of its reversion to normal depend on its grading: only mild pallor disc has some chance to revert to normal, whereas moderate and severe pallor do not revert to normal. RNFLT and optic disc can be used as prognostic factors for evaluation of visual outcome in pituitary adenoma surgery.

    The eccentric group also yielded moderate improvements in the middle-late phase RTD (RTD100-200; ES = 0.51 and 0.54 for the knee flexors and extensors, respectively), whereas the TLP group showed small-moderate improvements (ES = 0.37)...Eccentric multi-joint training induced significant improvements for lower body strength in a short amount of time in a trained population. These accelerated adaptations and also the lowered energy requirements of eccentric exercise may be useful for clinicians or practitioners when prescribing training programs for those who are injured, sedentary, or elderly, who are in need of time efficient muscle function improvements.
