    Review, Journal:  Experimental and numerical elucidation of the fate and transport of antibiotics in aquatic environment: A review. (Pubmed Central) -  Jul 16, 2023
    Among all, tetracycline was found to more unstable (log K?=??-?0.62 to?-?1.12) that can readily undergo photolysis and hydrolysis; whereas macrolides were more stable (log K?=?3.06 to 4.02) that are prone to biodegradation...Addressing these aspects collectively is the key to exploring the emergence of antimicrobial resistance. Therefore, a comprehensive model involving antimicrobial resistance parameters like fitness cost, bacterial population dynamics, conjugation transfer efficiency, etc. is required to predict the fate of antibiotics.

    Journal:  Phytotoxic Effects of Tetracycline and its Removal Using Canna indica in a Hydroponic System. (Pubmed Central) -  Jun 26, 2023
    These findings emphasize the importance of monitoring tolerance levels induced by antibiotics in plant species. Thus, monitoring the antibiotic-induced-tolerance levels in plant species is crucial for maintaining plant health and effectively managing abiotic stress, ensuring efficient recovery and facilitating an effective wetland treatment system.

    Journal:  Novel g-CN/BiVO heterostructured nanohybrids for high efficiency photocatalytic degradation of toxic chemical pollutants. (Pubmed Central) -  Mar 13, 2023
    The photocatalytic properties of the prepared samples were tested in the presence of organic methylene blue (MB) and antibiotic tetracycline (TC) pollutants under visible light illumination...Scavenger experiments revealed that O and h radicals played a main role in the degradation of the chemical pollutants. The developed g-CN/BiVO heterostructured catalyst is a suitable candidate for removing contaminants from industrial wastewater because of its facile fabrication and exceptional photocatalytic activity under visible light irradiation.

    Vachellia schaffneri leaves: A forestry waste or a sustainable resource of antibacterial compounds against foodborne pathogens? (Virtual-only (Zoom)) -  Aug 9, 2022 - Abstract #ACSFall2022ACS_Fall_11034;
    As a part of our ongoing research on investigating phytoceuticals from forestry waste, we have carried out a bioactivity-guided cold extraction of Vachellia schaffneri leaves in water and evaluated the antibacterial activity of our extract against Listeria innocua, Salmonella typhimurium, and Escherichia coli O157:H7 by antibiotic disc diffusion assay using tetracycline (20 mg/disc) as a positive control...This study indicates that Vachellia schaffneri leaf extract has antimicrobial properties against the tested foodborne pathogens. Further investigation confirmed the presence of antibacterial compounds in the extract.

    Journal:  Knowledge, attitudes, practices and risk perception of rural poultry farmers in Cameroon to antimicrobial use and resistance. (Pubmed Central) -  Apr 13, 2021
    The findings revealed strong positive association between educational level and KAPP score and between biosecurity measures and AMU and risk perception of AMR. Thus, continuous education of rural poultry farmers on husbandry norms, drug use and microbial resistance in animal farms will enhance their knowledge and risk perception on AMU as well as enable them adopt suitable attitude and practices to control animal and human health hazards due to AMR.

    [VIRTUAL] Esophageal Actinomycosis Presenting as Persistent Dysphagia in an Immunocompromised Host () -  Sep 15, 2020 - Abstract #ACG2020ACG_1539;
    He was initially treated with PO Cefdinir for 4 weeks without resolution of symptoms, then started on Augmentin, again without any relief...Actinomyces remain highly sensitive to Penicillin however if allergy is present, tetracyclines, clindamycin, and macrolides are alternative options. In some cases, surgical drainage may be required.

    FACTORS PREDICTIVE OF HELICOBACTER PYLORI INFECTION RECURRENCE: A SINGLE CENTER EXPERIENCE () -  Jan 28, 2020 - Abstract #DDW2020DDW_2529;
    Quadruple therapy is superior to triple therapy and associated with lower rates of H. pylori recurrent infection. In areas suspected of having a high resistance to H. pylori, or patients with a history of clarithromycin exposure, clinicians should strongly consider the use of quadruple therapy as a first line regimen
