Neonatal doxycycline injection or doxycycline diet fed to breeders was used to activate Cre recombinase...In addition to the defective craniofacial bone development, our data also showed that the Cre activation in chondrocytes significantly compromised bone acquisition in femur. Our data calls for the consideration of the potential in vivo adverse effects caused by Cre expression in chondrocytes and reinforcement of the importance of including Cre-containing controls to facilitate accurate phenotype interpretation in transgenic research.

We derived a study cohort of 50 patients with low-flow vascular malformations treated with percutaneous embolization using sclerosants such as Ethanol, Sotradecol, Bleomycin, and Doxycycline (LM) performed from 2004–2019 and who received intra-operative nerve monitoring for lesions that are adjacent to one or more peripheral nerve(s). Intraoperative neuromonitoring may improve the safety of vascular embolization procedures by providing a real-time assessment of any ongoing damage and facilitate intra-procedural planning.

Our objective is to evaluate the regional regenerative potential of calvarial bone in critical-sized defects in a rabbit model using novel nanostructured silica-loaded membranes doped with zinc or doxycycline...The peripheral regions of the defects showed higher osteogenic capacity than the central areas when the membranes were present. The proportion of new bone adjacent to the dura was similar to that adjacent to the membrane only when the HOOC-Si-Membranes and Zn-HOOC-Si-Membranes were used, indicating a direct osteoinductive effect of the membranes.

To estimate human exposure to antibiotics more accurately, knowledge gaps on the transformation between parent and metabolic antibiotics, urinary excretion proportions of antibiotics at low-dose exposure and pharmacokinetic data of antibiotics in humans need to be filled up, and the repeated sampling over a long period in future research is needed. Longitudinal studies about antibiotic exposure and the risk of diseases in different developmental windows as well as in-depth research on the pathogenic mechanism of low-dose, long-term, and joint antibiotic exposure are warranted.

Blood cultures revealed VRE which was resistant to linezolid, resistant to ampicillin, non-susceptible to daptomycin (MIC of 8 mcg/mL), and exhibited susceptibility to gentamicin...The aortic valve culture grew VRE susceptible to linezolid but resistant to ampicillin and doxycycline...After 6 years of follow-up, the patient has not had a recurrent VRE infection. To our knowledge, this is the first case of endocarditis secondary to VRE that was successfully managed with the combination of daptomycin and chloramphenicol.

This transgenic line was crossed with a col2CRE;Rosa26 mouse line to generate col2CRE;Rosa26;TgFoxA2 mice for inducible expression of FoxA2 in cartilage using doxycycline treatment...In contrast, in the CD24CD200 immature chondrocytes, neither FoxA2 nor Runx2 overexpression could induce ectopic expression of hypertrophic markers MMP13, alkaline phosphatase, or PTH/PTHrP receptor. Overall these findings mirror our in vivo data, and suggest that induction of chondrocyte hypertrophy by FoxA2 may require other factors in addition to Runx2 (i.e., Hif2α, MEF2C, or perhaps unknown factors), whose expression/activity is rate-limiting in immature chondrocytes.

Dogs in an area of endemicity were screened for B. burgdorferi and Anaplasma exposure and stratified according to seropositivity, presence of LD symptoms, and doxycycline treatment...PBMCs from dogs with symptomatic LD showed significantly reduced killing ability compared with endemic control PBMCs. An elevated NK-like CD8 T cell response was associated with protection against development of clinical LD, while excess IFN-γ was associated with clinical disease.
