While NV731 and PABN act as efflux inhibitors against PA in broth only, NV716 re-sensitizes PA to antibiotics (whether substrates for efflux or not) in broth and intracellularly (probably due to its destabilizing activity towards the PA outer membrane (PLoSOne 2016;11(5):e0154490). NV716 could be a useful adjuvant to revive the activity of old antibiotics with low antipseudomonal activity against PA infections, including its intracellular persistent forms.

It can be concluded that phenothiazines could be used as effective antimicrobial agents against both C. trachomatis D and C. pneumoniae. Since thioridazine has been shown to be effective against Mycobacterium tuberculosis, further studies could support the rediscovery of the neuroleptic phenothiazines as potential candidates in anti-chlamydial therapy.

The high frequency of mutations conferring azithromycin resistance is similar to that found in other countries, probably due to its extended use for other STIs treatment. UP446 could potentially be used alone or as an adjunct with other oral hygiene preparations for periodontal disease in both human and companion animals.

Similar results were obtained with soil under drying-rewetting cycles showing somewhat lower values in soil aqueous phase and slightly shorter half-lives in some cases. The results obtained pointed out that the route of entry of antibiotics into the soil, through recycled water or manure, may have an important effect on their behavior, particularly regarding their availability in soil.

...Doxycycline had a maximum concentration of 204.4 ng·L in the tributary river water and 103.0 ng·L in the riverine wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) effluents...The major contribution of the CECs in the mainstream came from its tributaries, which contributed a total of >50% in the spring flood period. The results suggest that some appropriate measures should be taken to reduce the contribution of the CECs from the tributaries to the seasonal freeze-thaw river in its spring flood period.
