Journal: Factors Associated with Neurodevelopmental Impairment in Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia. (Pubmed Central) - Aug 19, 2020 In our cohort of patients with moderate to severe BPD, the majority had no NDI, and low birth weight and length of hospital stay were associated with increased risk of developing NDI. This finding suggests that there are potentially modifiable factors associated with better neurodevelopmental outcomes in patients with BPD that deserve further study.

Journal: Toward Drug Release Using Polymer Mechanochemical Disulfide Scission. (Pubmed Central) - Aug 18, 2020 We show that mechanochemically generated thiol-terminated polymers undergo a Michael-type addition to Diels-Alder (DA) adducts of furylated drugs and acetylenedicarboxylate derivatives, initiating the downstream release of the small molecule drug by a retro DA reaction. We believe that this method can serve as a blueprint for the activation of many other small molecules.

Clinical, PK/PD data, Journal: Population Pharmacokinetics and Safety of Piperacillin-Tazobactam Extended Infusions in Infants and Children. (Pubmed Central) - Aug 7, 2020 The optimal dosing regimens in children with normal renal function, based on the piperacillin component, were 75 mg/kg/dose every 4h infused over 0.5h in infants 2-≤ 6m and 130 mg/kg/dose every 8h infused over 4h in children > 6m-6y against bacteria with a MIC up to 16 mg/L. A total of 44 children (49%) had ≥ 1 adverse event, with 3 of these (site infiltrations) considered definitely associated with extended infusions.

The effects of DGP and TDP in combination with diuretics of clinical use, as well as with L-NAME, atropine and indomethacin were also explored...The combination with HCTZ, but not with furosemide or amiloride, significantly enhanced DGP and TDP induced diuresis, which was accompanied by an increase of the electrolytes content in the urine...Besides, TDP exerted protective effects against urinary calcium oxalate crystals formation. Taken together, our data revealed the diuretic effect of two xanthones in rats and their possible underlying mode of action.

[VIRTUAL] Prognosis of acute kidney injury during acute heart failure: the role of diuretics () - Jul 30, 2020 - Abstract #ESC2020ESC_3811; Inclusion criteria were: ≥1 hospitalization with ≥1 recorded furosemide administration and ≥1 AHF ICD-10 code...Hemoconcentration, using a clinically relevant definition, was independently associated with improved survival. These findings show that serum creatinine and proteins, routinely used and with limited cost, accurately stratify mortality risk during AHF.
