An antibiotic intake form and process for review for five restricted antibiotics (ceftaroline, ceftazidime/avibactam, ceftolozane/tazobactam, fidaxomicin, meropenem/vaborbactam) was approved at the system ASP committee. Implementation of an antimicrobial intake process within a post-acute medical system resulted in a significant reduction in antibiotic consumption for five targeted antibiotics as well as overall antibiotic expenditure.

The investigation of CZA-resistance mechanisms offered the unique opportunity to study vertical, horizontal, and oblique evolutionary trajectories of K. pneumoniae high-risk clones.

Thus, cefiderocol, ceftazidime-avibactam, and eravacycline are promising carbapenem-sparing alternatives for treating ESCREC infections, and their strength of activity varies in relation to diverse bacterial characteristics.

Ceftazidime-avibactam was associated with a lower risk of 14-day mortality than colistin in patients with CRE bacteremia.
