An association of AMU and AMR was observed for resistance to tetracycline and erythromycin, while it was not observed for the aminoglycosides. Resistance to nalidixic acid and ciprofloxacin increased despite a decrease of fluoroquinolone use between 2014 and 2016, indicating that other factors have a strong influence on resistance to (fluoro)quinolones in Campylobacter.

Our research confirmed a high carrier rate of MDR E. coli, even more than one MDR strain in a single individual; therefore, wider monitoring in this group of animals should be considered.

Total nitrogen, biological oxygen demand (BOD) and chemical oxygen demand (COD)of treated water in SBR was removed and the removal efficacy was 91.3 ± 2.1%, 97.6 ± 3.3%, and 94.3 ± 4.4%, respectively in 10 h hydraulic retention time. However, the efficiency of BOD, COD and total nitrogen content removal was decreased, due to the reduced metabolic process of bacteria after 10 h. The SBR reactor proved to be an efficient method for the treatment of various heavy metals from the wastewater.

Biological study of the complex against Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Candida albicans showed very strong antibacterial activity with MIC values ranging from 128 μg/ml to 1 μg/ml concentration. The optimized complex is docked to the DNA Gyrase (3LPX) and gyrase tip IIA topoisomerase (3UC1).

Here, we show that the intracellular pH of Escherichia coli equilibrates to the environmental pH following treatment with the DNA damaging antibiotic nalidixic acid...Specifically, at environmental pH's greater than six we find that mutagenesis plays a significant role in producing antibiotic resistant mutants. At pH's less than or equal to 6 the genome appears more stable but extensive filamentation is observed, a phenomenon that has previously been linked to increased survival in the presence of macrophages.

Clinical, Journal: Quinolone resistant Salmonella species isolated from pediatric patients with diarrhea in central Iran. (Pubmed Central) - May 15, 2021
To prevent the spread of these resistant strains, the antimicrobial resistance of Salmonella spp. isolates should be under constant surveillance, and empiric antibiotic therapy should be adapted appropriately.

Highest detected values corresponded to 4-hydroxybenzophenone (84.1 ng/g dw), benzophenone-2 (54.4 ng/g dw), and salicylic acid (53.8 ng/g dw). The best combination to minimize the transfer of the target contaminants from the irrigation water to the lettuces was sprinkling irrigation with water reclaimed by soil infiltration through reactive barriers, and clayey soil.
