Isolates displayed a remarkable resistance to nalidixic acid (69.9%), ciprofloxacin (69.9%), and tetracycline (55.6%), and a low resistance to streptomycin (6.7%). Our findings highlight the importance of birds of prey as reservoirs of Campylobacter strains and their significant role as carriers of antimicrobial resistance.

Levofloxacin resistance was seen in 37.5%, 75.0%, and 37.5% of the isolates carrying the qnrA, qnrB, and qnrS genes, respectively. The lowest resistance rates of qnrA, B, and S-positive E.coli strains were against gatifloxacin (0,0, and 25%, respectively).A high prevalence of qnr genes enhances the increasing resistance rate of E.coli against the quinolone antibiotic under study.

Among the C. jejuni isolates from chickens, 25.6% of 2013 isolates were resistant to nalidixic acid, ciprofloxacin, and levofloxacin, and 7% to ampicillin and minocycline, while 30.8% of the isolates were resistant to minocycline, 23.1% to nalidixic acid, ciprofloxacin, and levofloxacin, and 15.4% to ampicillin in 2019...All the C. coli isolates from pork in 2019 were resistant to five antibiotics. The high frequency of AMR strains in C. coli isolates from pork suggests that appropriate use of antimicrobials is required in swine husbandry.

This study provides novel insight into the genomic epidemiology and antimicrobial susceptibility profile of ETEC infections in indigenous adults for the first time, which further improves our understanding on ETEC epidemiology and has implications for the development of vaccine and future surveillance and prevention of ETEC infections.

These results indicate that hospital wastewater is laden with potentially pathogenic MDR Enterobacteriaceae with various antibiotic resistance genes that can be spread to humans throughout the food chain, provided the wastewaters are not properly treated before eventual discharge into the environment.

The susceptibility profile of the isolates to the different classes of antibiotics was evaluated, with 80 % of the isolates showing resistance to the antibiotics Nalidixic Acid, Ampicillin, Chloramphenicol, Oxacillin, and Rifampicin...CMRP4860 that presented antibacterial effect against Methicilin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) (MIC: 1.5 μg/mL and 13 μg/mL, respectively) and Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE) (MIC: 40 μg/mL for both extracts)...Due to these results, the crude extract of isolate CMRP4860 Verrucosispora sp., which was the only one that presented cytotoxicity and reduced cell density only in tumor cells, was selected for subsequent analysis involving scale-up fermentation of the CMRP4860 resulting in 9 fractions that were tested against both bacteria and tumor cells, with particular fractions showing promise and meriting further investigation. Taken together, the results of this study not only show for the first time that the endophytic community of H. amplexicaulis actinobacteria can produce secondary metabolites that potentially possess important antibacterial and cytotoxic properties, but also reinforce the pressing need to conserve biomes such as the Brazilian Pantanal.

For the SE challenged birds, SE reduction in DY was observed at 3 dpi and until the end of the trial at 14 dpi confirming a numerically larger difference between groups as well as an increase in bacterial species diversity in DY. It could be hypothesized that the SE reduction shown immediately after the challenge and the greater SE reduction shown after 10 dpi may be the synergistic effect of the combined feed additives.

Decreased susceptibilities to amoxicillin, amoxicillin/clavulanic acid, cefotaxime, cefoxitin, ceftazidime, chloramphenicol, florfenicol, colistin, ciprofloxacin, flumequine, nalidixic acid and trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole were also found...and Escherichia coli, three oqxAB genes from Raoultella ornithinolytica and bla in eight E. coli strains harboring a qnrB19 gene. Our results suggest that the bacteria and antibiotic resistances/resistance genes present in bivalve mollusks depend on several factors, such as host species and respective life stage, bacterial family, farm's location and season, and that is important to study each aquaculture farm individually to implement the most suitable measures to prevent outbreaks.

The rates of ST314 resistance to quinolones were as follows: ciprofloxacin, 32.1%; nalidixic acid, 16%; and ofloxacin, 7.5%...This is the first report about the emergence of quinolone-resistant S. enterica Kentucky ST314 in China, which is different from previous reports, and the findings of the present study suggest that the mechanism of quinolone resistance in these strains are plasmid-mediated. Notably, plasmids carrying resistance genes may promote the rapid spread of ciprofloxacin resistance.
