Routine electromyography and nerve conduction studies were normal, whereas nerve biopsy demonstrated findings of small fibre neuropathy. Ultimately, his condition was managed with carbamazepine and his symptoms have almost entirely resolved to date.

In the chimney test, AND given at a dose enhancing the protective activity of carbamazepine, gabapentin, and phenobarbital (which alone was without effect on motor performance of mice) did not affect impairment of motor coordination produced by the antiepileptics. Our findings recommend further preclinical and clinical research on AND in respect of its use as adjuvant therapy in the management of epilepsy in men with deficiency of androgens.

Molecular size, reactivity and ionic speciation of pharmaceuticals, as well as plant physiology, collectively determine their uptake, transport and accumulation in plants.

We propose L769V is a pathogenic variant, that along with other cases in the literature, defines a new dominant SCN4A disorder of myotonic myopathy with secondary congenital joint and skeletal involvement.

The presented method will enable rational design of formulations and accurate prediction of the oral absorbability of drugs in supersaturable solid forms.

We present a novel experimental setup using 20 recirculating flumes and a response surface model to study the influence of hyporheic exchange and sediment bacterial diversity on half-lives of the anti-epileptic drug carbamazepine (CBZ) and the artificial sweetener acesulfame (ACS)...Half-lives of CBZ were higher than ACS, and were significantly affected only by the sediment dilution variable, and thus by bacterial diversity. Our results show that (1) the flume-setup is a useful tool to study the fate of micropollutants in rivers, and that (2) higher hyporheic exchange and bacterial diversity in the sediment can increase the degradation of micropollutants in rivers.

The results showed that treatment with vitamin C protected against the alteration in parameters measuring oxidative changes, sex hormones, sperm characteristics, relative pituitary and testicular weight and histological changes. The study concluded that protection against CBZ-induced alteration in reproductive parameters by vitamin C was partly due to its antioxidant effect.

Our approach has been two-fold: we investigated (1) interactions of humic acid (HA) and Suwannee River NOM with polymeric particle surfaces of different (e.g., carboxylic and amine) functional groups and (2) binding affinity of emerging pharmaceutical contaminants (e.g., ketoprofen, carbamazepine, and amlodipine) onto polymer and NOM coated surfaces...Uptake of pharmaceuticals onto these surfaces also appears to be dependent on the surface functional moiety.
