Eslicarbazepine acetate (ESL) is structurally distinct from other members of the dibenzazepine family and has the advantage of once daily dosing...Seven studies investigated the outcome of transition between carbamazepine and or oxcarbazepine to ESL, with specific data on the transition dose ratio and scheduling...The retention rate following transition from carbamazepine to ESL was 69% (follow up of four months) with almost half of those transitioned because of adverse events experiencing no further symptoms. There is Grade C evidence available to help guide clinicians in the transition.

The crystal magnetic susceptibility tensor, χ, for all experimentally known polymorphs, and its molecular counterpart, χ, are calculated for flexible pharmaceuticals such as carbamazepine, flufenamic acid, and chalcones, and rigid molecules, such as benzene, pyridine, acridine, anthracene, and coronene, whose molecular magnetic properties have been traditionally studied...The anisotropy of χ can vary considerably between polymorphs though the isotropic terms are fairly constant. The implications for developing a computational method of predicting whether crystallization in a magnetic field could produce a novel or different polymorph are discussed.

In synthetic waters containing hydroquinone (HQ) or benzoquinone (BQ), Fe(III)/PMS effectively degraded carbamazepine (CBZ), a representative of resistant TrOCs...Compared to the conventional iron coagulation process, the PMS-amended iron coagulation process increased the removal percentage of CBZ by 50%-80%. Overall, this study demonstrates that PMS enhanced iron coagulation is a promising process for the abatement of TrOCs in water treatment.

However, Carassius carassius recovered from all these increases (superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione reductase and malondialdehyde) after the 10 d recovery, suggesting that oxidative damage is reversible. Removal efficiencies were high (>70%) for fenofibric acid, ibuprofen, and paracetamol; medium (30-70%) for gabapentin, lamotrigine, fenofibrate, gemfibrozil, diclofenac, ketoprofen, naproxen, and pentoxifylline; and low (50%) in the ecological hazard posed by most of the compounds, although it is important to note that the hazard from gemfibrozil and ibuprofen remained high even after treatment, indicating the need for complementary treatment.

The effects of water matrix were complex: bicarbonate ion and humic acid showed strong inhibitory effect; increasing the pH above 7 led to significant drop in CBZ removal; sulfate ion slightly decreased the k while 5 mM chloride ion more than doubled the k. The interactions between anions and WO surface were theoretically analysed to explain the effects of anions. The electrical energy per order values suggest that UVA-LED/WO/PDS process is suitable for water with low organic carbon.

In conclusion, our results clearly show the potential relevance of micropollutants in sewer overflows and the need to assess site-specific measures.

Considering the superior performance of the RCS-mediated self-cleaning compared to conventional membrane chemical cleaning using sodium hypochlorite, our results exemplify an effective strategy for in situ electro-generation of RCS to achieve highly-efficient membrane self-cleaning.

High concentrations of pharmaceuticals were detected on the lower-stream sites as compared to upper-stream sites.
