This is the first time that a five-step metabolic pathway has been developed for anthocyanin biosynthesis in probiotic L. lactis NZ9000. This work lays the groundwork for novel anthocyanin production by a process involving the placement of several biosynthesis genes under the control of a gene cluster.

Our study provides high-quality genomic knowledge relating to D. cochinchinensis and significant insight into the molecular mechanisms responsible for longevity and the formation of dragon's blood. These findings will facilitate the resource protection and sustainable utilization of Dracaena.

Four structural genes (RsBG8L, RsDFR, RsCCOAMT, and RsLDOX) and nine transcription factors (RsTT8-1, RsTT8-2, RsMYB24L, RsbHLH57, RsPAR2L, RsbHLH113L, RsOGR3L, RsMYB24, and RsMYB34L) were found to be significantly correlated with metabolites in the flesh of the taproot. This study provides a foundation for future studies on the gene functions and genetic diversity of radish pigmentation and should aid in the cultivation of new valuable radish varieties.

Positively selected P. tenuiflora K uptake genes may have evolved new functions that contributed to development of P. tenuiflora salinity tolerance. In addition, the expansion of the gene families involved in pentose phosphate pathway, sucrose biosynthesis, and flavonoid biosynthesis assisted the adaptation of P. tenuiflora to survival under high salinity conditions.
