    Possibly benzodiazepine withdrawal leads to a reduction in gamma-aminobutyric acid with associated disinhibition phenomenon and thus positive symptoms occur. While metamorphosis has been described with occipital/occipitotemporal lobe lesions (Pryse-Phillips, 2003), no such pathology was noted in this patient.

    Estimates of average narcotics consumption ranked as follows in units of mg/day/1000 persons: heroin (474 ± 32), cocaine (551 ± 49), amphetamine (256 ± 12), methylphenidate (236 ± 28), methadone (72 ± 8), oxycodone (80 ± 6), alprazolam (60 ± 2), MDMA (88 ± 35), codeine (50 ± 4), and morphine (18 ± 3). This campus-based WBE study yielded baseline data on 12 narcotics for a U.S. campus and demonstrated for the first time the feasibility of detecting the fentanyl metabolite norfentanyl in this setting.

    Here, we assessed whether treatment with alprazolam, a widely prescribed GABA-R PAM, could promote β-cell survival and replication in human islets after implantation into NOD/scid mice...Thus, combined GABA-R agonist and PAM treatment may help control inflammatory immune responses using reduced drug dosages. Together, these findings suggest that GABA-R PAMs represent a promising drug class for safely modulating islet cells toward beneficial outcomes to help prevent or reverse T1D and, together with a GABA-R agonist, may have broader applications for ameliorating other disorders in which inflammation contributes to the disease process.

The linear dynamic range (LDR) of 0.03-60 mg L, the limit of detection of 8-10 μg L, the relative standard deviation (RSD, n = 3) of 2.88-3.65 % and quantification of 25-30 μg L is obtained for HPLC analysis based on PUF-MIP extraction.
