Antifungal drugs were fluconazole, itraconazole, clotrimazole, caspofungin, and griseofulvin, for a mean duration of 37.6 days...other than neoformans and gattii suggests that these species rarely cause clinically significant infection in humans. Only one case of invasive disease was found.

...Antifungal susceptibility testing of the isolated Trichophyton species (n = 127) was carried out with 12 antifungal agents: fluconazole, voriconazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole, sertaconazole, clotrimazole, terbinafine, naftifine, amorolfine, ciclopirox olamine, griseofulvin, and luliconazole...This transition leads to the substitution of amino acid phenylalanine to leucine in 397position of the squalene epoxidase enzyme. In homology modelling the mutant residue was smaller than wild type and positioned in the dominant site of squalene epoxidase during drug interaction, which may lead to failure to block ergosterol biosynthesis pathway by the antifungal drug.

It delineates underlying mechanisms of drying kinetics and demarcates a smooth transition from constant-rate to falling-rate period. Overall, our results suggest that the transport model is capable of predicting the temporal evolution of moisture and final film thickness at different drying air velocities and temperatures with reasonable accuracy.

We report a rare case of MG on the face of a six-year-old child caused by Trichophyton mentagrophytes after long term use of topical corticosteroids and other inadequate topical medications. He was treated with griseofulvin 25 mg/kg/day for 35 days unsuccessfully and successful treatment was obtained with terbinafine.

Importantly, the SPA method allowed the first experimental measurement of the amorphous solubility for griseofulvin, a fast crystallizing drug, without the use of a crystallization inhibitor. In conclusion, the SPA approach enables rapid and straightforward determination of the supersaturation potential for amorphous materials of less than 0.1 mg, which could prove highly beneficial in the fields of materials science, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, food science, pharmaceutical science and others.

Although our findings demonstrated that both griseofulvin and terbinafine were effective in the treatment of tinea capitis, griseofulvin showed a little higher efficacy in this regard. Consideration of some variables, such as age, associated risk factors, clinical type, hair involvement pattern, and dominant pathogenic species, is important in the determination of the drugs.

The results showed that the hydrophilic f-CNTs dramatically enhanced dissolution rate for both drugs, and the time necessary to reach 80% dissolution (t) reduced from 67 to 10 with the incorporation of 5.1% f-CNTs in SMZ, and from 66 to 18 min with 4.0% f-CNTs in GF. The enhanced dissolution is attributed to the fact that the hydrophilic f-CNTs served as conduits for bringing in water in close contact with the drug crystals.

...The examination of the combined effects of the EO with antimicrobial drugs revealed synergisms of the EO with vancomycin against S. aureus and of the EO with fluconazole and griseofulvin against dermatophytic fungi (FICI 0.2-0.5)...These results suggest that H. lobelii EO and its major constituent, α-bisabolol, have remarkable antimicrobial potential. Combination therapies of this EO with antifungal drugs could offer a promising alternative for treatment of human mycoses caused by filamentous dermatophytic fungi.
