This was initially managed with fasting and insulin infusion and she was commenced on conventional interventions to lower triglycerides, including a fat-restricted diet, heparin, marine oil and gemfibrozil...Fenofibrate and rosuvastatin was commenced to manage her hypertriglyceridaemia postpartum and the importance of preconception counselling for future pregnancies was discussed...Therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) is an effective intervention for the management of severe gestational hypertriglyceridaemia and should be considered in cases where there is an underlying LPL defect. Preconception counselling and discussion regarding contraception is of paramount importance in women with familial hypertriglyceridaemia.

Additionally, biodegradation contributed to the effective removal of carboxylic PPCPs (i.e. ketoprofen and gemfibrozil) in both ASTs and SAT, but effective biodegradation of halogenated acid and polycyclic aromatic compounds (i.e. clofibric acid and naproxen) was observed only in SAT (82.1% and 81.8%, respectively)...Considering PPCP biodegradation and substrate metabolism, SAT displays a wider range on the biodegradation than AST. Therefore, we conclude that these two processes can complement each other when used for controlling PPCPs.

The pharmacokinetic parameters are presented as mean (95% CI): area under the plasma concentration versus time curve 88.84 (72.72-104.96) μg·h/mL, steady state mean plasma concentration 7.40 (6.06-8.75) μg/mL, minimum plasma concentration 1.24 (0.87-1.61) μg/mL, maximum plasma concentration 26.73 (21.31-32.15) μg/mL, time to reach maximum plasma concentration 2.28 (1.42-3.13) h, elimination half-life 2.81 (2.22-3.40) h, apparent total clearance 7.72 (5.85-9.58) L/h, apparent distribution volume 33.97 (18.41-49.53) L. In conclusion, the method for analysis of GFZ in human plasma showed sensitivity, linearity, precision and accuracy compatible with application in pharmacokinetic studies of multiple oral dose of 600 mg GFZ every 12 h.

We inferred that uptake of pharmaceuticals acted as an abiotic stress and stimulated the plant defense response because of the variation of jasmonates. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study applying SPME to detect and track both pharmaceuticals and phytohormones in living plants, which not only provided a glimpse to the adverse effect of pharmaceuticals on plants as well as the regulation of endogenous jasmonates, but also set a promising template for future in vivo analysis of xenobiotics and plant endogenous substances.
