    In conclusion, bisoprolol protected myocardium against ischemia-reperfusion injury via the PI3K/AKT/ GSK3β pathway. Through the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway, SC-FL up-regulates GFRa1, RET, PI3K, p-AKT, and Bcl-2, and down-regulates the expression of BAD and BAX proteins and mRNA, thus reducing the percentage of GC-1 spg cells in S-phase, significantly increasing the mitochondrial membrane potential, significantly reducing cell apoptosis, and improving sperm counts and viability.

    In summary, our finding showed that peperomin E had an effect on DU145 cells in vitro and in a nude mouse DU145 cell xenograft model in vivo, demonstrated that peperomin E could significantly induce apoptosis and the autophagic response in DU145 cells and that autophagy played a cytoprotective role in peperomin E-treated DU145 cells. These results suggest that the combination of peperomin E treatment and autophagic inhibition has potential for the treatment of prostate cancer.

    This activation was significantly diminished by LY-294002, a PI3K-AKT inhibitor, which decreased the number of CtL2 progeny...Furthermore, in normoxia, CtL2 infection changed the NAD/NADH ratio of cells with increased gapdh expression; in contrast, under hypoxia, the NAD/NADH ratio was the same in infected and uninfected cells with high and stable expression of gapdh, suggesting that CtL2-infected cells adapted better to hypoxia. Together, these data indicate that hypoxia promotes CtL2 growth in immortal human epithelial cells by activating the PI3K-AKT pathway and maintaining the NAD/NADH ratio with stably activated glycolysis.

    In line with this, the p85-PI3 K-subunit was downregulated upon knockdown of KDM2B in DU-145 cells, while the opposite effect became evident in KDM2B-overexpressing cells. These results revealed a novel functional role of KDM2B in regulating the activation of the FAK/PI3 K signaling in prostate cancer cells that participates in the control of cell motility.

    In order to clarify, we showed that the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase inhibitor, LY294002, inhibited FLC-induced Akt-mediated deactivation of Forkhead box O class 3a (FoxO3a) and increased catalase activity in proximal tubule cells...Our studies confirmed that the mechanism of downregulation of catalase by FLC involved deactivation of FoxO3a and inhibition of SIRT1. Mechanistic understanding of catalase regulation allows for future treatments that target pathways that increase catalase in the setting of proximal tubule injury from FLC.
