In this retrospective analysis, the non-susceptibility rates of the causative bacteria to cefcapene-pivoxil (CFPN-PI) and levofloxacin (LVFX) were determined after dividing patients with acute uncomplicated cystitis by age group (15-54 and 55-74 years old) and by bacterial morphology: gram-positive cocci (GPC) or gram-negative rod (GNR)...All the non-susceptibility rates were lower than 10.2% in the sub-divided groups. Differentiating patients by age and the morphology of causative bacteria can aid in making the appropriate choice of antimicrobial agent and may improve treatment outcomes in patients with acute uncomplicated cystitis.

Her inflammatory markers normalised and she was clinically doing well at her 6-month follow-up...jejuni is a rare cause of prosthetic joint infection and should be included in the differential diagnosis when a patient has risk factors even without significant preceding gastrointestinal symptoms. Per most recent Infectious Diseases Society of America guidelines, treatment after one-stage revision includes 4-6 weeks of intravenous antimicrobials followed by possible oral suppression therapy, while the European guidelines recommend 12 weeks of orally bioavailable antibiotics.

Similar results were seen for amoxicillin/clavulanate and levofloxacin against 6-h MSSA biofilms...These results suggest that erdosteine enhances the activity of the antibiotic by facilitating its penetration into biofilms and by disrupting the extracellular polymeric substance matrix; this should be confirmed with further studies. The potential clinical value of erdosteine in treating biofilm-related infections warrants further investigation.

Solid-phase extraction and ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-electrostatic field orbit hydrazine mass spectrometry were used to detect and analyze the contamination of nine antibiotics including sulfonamides, tetracyclines, macrolides, quinolones, and lincomycin in the third drain of Ningxia...The detection ratios of clarithromycin, levofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, and lincomycin were 100% in the third drain...Correlation analysis showed that levofloxacin was significantly positively correlated with NH-N and TN (P<0.01), erythromycin was significantly correlated with TN, and clarithromycin was significantly correlated with both NH-N and TN (P<0.05), which indicated that water quality index was closely related to antibiotic concentration. The results of the ecological risk assessment showed that levofloxacin and clarithromycin in the third drain posed certain ecological risks.

Doxycycline (33.4% susceptible), gentamicin (31.3% susceptible), meropenem (30.6%, susceptible), imipenem (30.2% susceptible), ceftazidime (27.8% susceptible), piperacillin-tazobactam (27.2% susceptible), and levofloxacin (27.2% susceptible) showed marginally poor antibacterial activity against tested isolates according to CLSI breakpoints, except for minocycline (73.7% susceptible)...KBP-7072 is a novel, expanded spectrum tetracycline antibacterial and has demonstrated good in vitro activity against recent geographically diverse A. baumannii isolates collected from North America, Europe, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific. This study has shown excellent in vitro activity of KBP-7072 against clinical A. baumannii isolates collected from different regions of China, regarded as supplementary to KBP-7072 pharmacodynamics data, which is of great significance, as it is promising an alternative treatment in CRAB isolates infections in China.
