From 2019 to 2021, the resistance to penicillin and sulfamethoxazole initially decreased and then increased, a trend that contrasted with the observed resistance to oxacillin, cefoxitin, erythromycin, clindamycin, and tetracycline...Since COVID-19 epidemic, the annual number of invasive S. aureus strains isolated from children in Kunming remained stable, but the molecular characteristics and antimicrobial resistance profiles of prevalent S. aureus strains have changed significantly. Thus, COVID-19 prevention and control should be supplemented by surveillance of common clinical pathogens, particularly vigilance against the prevalence of multidrug-resistant and high-virulence strains.

There was a whopping decrease in the sensitivity of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) to clindamycin (75.93% vs. 50.7%, p=0.000), linezolid (99.54% vs. 88.73, p=0.004), trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole (92.59% vs. 74.65%, p=0.001), and vancomycin (99.54% vs. 88.73%, p=0.004)...However, some antibiotic drugs were found to have high susceptibility against different isolated organisms, and these drugs include amikacin, levofloxacin, vancomycin, cefotaxime, nitrofurantoin, and ceftriaxone...We believe that further research on antibiotic legislation and prescribing trends is required. Other non-significant study findings may be attributed to the limited data available to us.

In 2018, the World Health Organization recommended a 6-month four-drug regimen (rifampicin, ethambutol, pyrazinamide, and levofloxacin) for the treatment of isoniazid-monoresistant tuberculosis...Both initial baseline regimens, 6-9REZ and 2REZ/7-10RE, were similarly effective. Shortening of the pyrazinamide administration duration with additional fluoroquinolone use could be a safe alternative for patients with potential hepatotoxicity related to pyrazinamide.

Almitrine demonstrated a Selectivity Index (provided by the ratio between the Half Cytotoxic Concentration against human foreskin fibroblasts and the Half Effective Concentration against T. gondii tachyzoites) that was higher than 47, whilst being considered a lead compound against T. gondii. Almitrine showed interactions with the Na/K ATPase transporter for Homo sapiens and Mus musculus, indicating a possible mechanism of action of this compound.

Our results demonstrate that a nonrestrictive approach to fluoroquinolone stewardship interventions had a significant impact on reducing levofloxacin utilization, increasing ceftriaxone utilization, and improving P aeruginosa levofloxacin susceptibility.

The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of linezolid (LZD), amikacin (AMK), ceftriaxone/sulbactam (CRO/SBT), cefotaxime/sulbactam (CTX/SBT), piperacillin/sulbactam (PIP/SBT), doxycycline (DOX), levofloxacin (LVX), amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium (7 : 1, AK71), imipenem (IPM), azithromycin (AZM), and their combinations with LYS were determined with tuber twice dilution...LYS and AZM inhibited the biofilm formation of one MRSA strain, but they and LVX had no similar activities against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus epidermidis (MRSE) or vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium (VREF)...The combinations of PIP/SBT+LYS, AMK+LYS, and LZD+LYS showed stronger antibiofilm activities against MRSA 62, MRSE 62, MRSE 63, and VREF 11. The antimicrobial and antibiofilm activities of LYS against MRSA were better than AZM, while that of LYS against MRSE and VREF, respectively, was similar with AZM and LVX.
