Pre-operative and post-operative treatment with albendazole was administered and en-block surgical excision of the mass was performed...At one-year follow-up, the patient remained asymptomatic without any signs of recurrence. Although HD of the neck is an extremely rare entity, physicians should always include it in the differential diagnosis of neck masses.

Ten species of cyathostomins (Cyathostomum catinatum, Cylicocyclus nassatus, C. ashworthi, C. leptostomus, Cylicostephanus calicatus, C. goldi, C. longibursatus, C. minutus, Coronocyclus labiatus, C. labratus) were found after horse deworming with albendazole. Our results are the first detection of BZ-resistance in strongylids of wild equids kept under semi-free conditions in the Reserve.

This is a two-arm community-based study: one arm (12 villages, population 2936) received double fortified salt along with annual mass drug administration (MDA) of DEC plus albendazole (DEC-salt+MDA-arm), and another (14 villages; population 4840) received MDA under the National Filaria Elimination Programme...Ag prevalence reduced to zero from 1.0 (DEC-salt+MDA-arm) and 6.3% (MDA-arm) in 2-3 years old, 1.2 and 3.6% from 2.9 in the DEC-salt-arm and 4.5% in the MDA-arm among 6-7 years old. It was feasible to deliver DEC-fortified salt covering > 90% of the households with compliance reaching the elimination target in the islands.

The results have ramifications in identification of possible conformers of carbendazim-based drugs for repurposing in oncology through giving deep insights in understanding the spatial and electronic changes upon drug binding to anticancer targets.

Albendazole (5 mg/ml), normal saline, and nano-emulsion without ZEO served as control groups...Additionally, densely packed aggregates were formed inside the microcysts treated with ZEO nano-emulsion and emulsion at a concentration of 20 µl/ml after 40 min, but the complete destruction of laminated layers did not occur. The results indicate that ZEO nano-emulsions have a higher protoscolicidal effect than its emulsion, but these two compounds had similar effects on microcysts.

Three concentrations of ethanolic and hydroethanolic extracts of the plant parts (1 mg/ml, 2.5 mg/ml, and 5 mg/ml) were prepared and tested against Pheretima posthuma using albendazole as the positive control and 0.9% normal saline solution as the negative control...Fractionation of SE provided a fraction, SE, which was more effective than SE both in reducing paralysis and death times (p < 0.0001) and was established to contain fixed oils. The outcome of the current study has provided a scientific justification for the preference of the seeds of Carica papaya for the treatment of helminth infections and has shown that the fixed oils present in the seeds could be responsible for such activity.

The benzimidazole derivative, 6-chloro-5-(2,3-dichlorophenoxy)-2-(trifluoromethyl)-1H-benzimidazole (RCB15), has a similar mode of action and efficacy as albendazole, a commonly used anthelminthic drugs...The significant increase in the concentration of citrate, oxaloacetate and succinate in the RCB15 treated groups may indicate an activation of the fumarate reductase pathway, leading to metabolic distress. Therefore RCB15 may be considered an alternative for the treatment of tissue parasitic diseases, since it induced changes in the main metabolic pathway of the parasite.

After a five-year period of school-based large-scale treatment for STH using an annual single dose of albendazole in a community of Sergipe state, Brazil, a marked reduction in prevalence was observed (15.4%% vs.7.4% for Ascaris sp., 6.0%% vs. 0.4% for hookworm, and 12.8%% vs. 4.5%% for Trichuris trichiura), with the exception of Strongyloides stercoralis, which had no statistically significant change in prevalence...dispar (0.0% vs. 36.0%), Blastocystis hominis (0.0% vs. 40.1%), and Giardia duodenalis (5.6% vs. 14.5%). Although the findings showed a dramatic reduction in the prevalence of STH after four rounds of preventive chemotherapy, there was an increase in intestinal protozoan infections, indicating a change in the epidemiological profile.

Deworming via closantel and albendazole was performed in cows in each trial at the beginning of their drying periods, and fourteen days later, the fecal egg-count reductions (FECR) of Calicophoron daubneyi and GIN were from 94 to 100% (average 98 %), while the percentages of reduction of cattle shedding eggs (CPCR) were from 50 to 100% (average 77 % and 82 %, respectively)...No adverse effects were detected in cattle taking pellets enriched with fungal spores (G-F2). It is concluded that long-term ingestion of spores of M. circinelloides and D. flagrans provides a valuable tool to improve the effect of rotational grazing and to lessen the risk of infection by C. daubneyi and GIN in dairy cattle, and accordingly, the performance of integrated control programs.

We have undertaken a detailed analysis of the biotransformation of five of the most therapeutically important benzimidazole anthelmintics - albendazole (ABZ), mebendazole (MBZ), thiabendazole (TBZ), oxfendazole (OxBZ) and fenbendazole (FBZ) - in Caenorhabditis elegans and the ruminant parasite Haemonchus contortus...The transcriptional xenobiotic response of a multiply resistant H. contortus strain UGA/2004 was essentially undetectable in the adult stage but present in the L3 infective stage, albeit more muted than C. elegans. This suggests that xenobiotic responses may be less efficient in stages of parasitic nematodes that reside in the host compared with the free-living stages.
