Forty-eight male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into six groups of control, colitis without treatment, colitis with mastic (400 mg/kg/daily) administered orally or intra-rectally, colitis with prednisolone (5 mg/kg of body weight), and colitis with sesame oil for seven successive days...The IL-6 did not change in the mastic and sesame oil groups. According to our results, mastic and sesame oil have anti-inflammatory properties, suggesting that they could be used as natural sources to lessen the ulcerative colitis inflammation.

Treatment options include radiotherapy and surgical resection for symptom relief, with palliative systemic therapy required to treat the underlying malignancy.

Positron emission tomography (PET) scan was without pathological findings.Results The patient received high doses of intravenous corticosteroids followed by oral prednisolone in long term with gradual improvement of her symptoms both on the CNS and the periphery.Conclusions This case highlights the possible involvement of tissues other than the CNS in AQP4-IgG positive patients. Clinicians should be aware of atypical manifestations of NMOSD outside the CNS, in cases where examinations are non-diagnostic and any other autoimmune or paraneoplastic disorder is excluded.

A post-hoc paired t-test comparing the CT means within the mOFC at a second follow-up scans eight weeks after baseline revealed no significant difference between follow-up 1 and follow-up 2 (t7 = -0.9841, p = 0.3578) and approached significance for the comparison between baseline and follow-up 2 (t7 = 2.3513, p = 0.0510).Conclusions Our results provide first evidence that steroid treatment during the first acute episode in MS was associated with cortical thinning in the mOFC, which tended to reverse after eight weeks of steroid-free treatment. Although these results need to be further validated in a larger cohort, our results suggest that steroid treatment potentially associates to atrophy in the medial orbitofrontal cortex; an effect which – if validated – should be taken into account for MS therapy.

Although these results need to be further validated in a larger cohort, our results suggest that steroid treatment potentially associates to atrophy in the medial orbitofrontal cortex; an effect which – if validated – should be taken into account for MS therapy. This retrospective analysis provides important information on the clinical characteristics of POEMS syndrome in Indian patients, which will help the clinician's decision-making process.

We demonstrated for the first time immune monitoring in a child with AIH and T1D before, during and after COVID-19. We hypothesize that continuing with low level of prednisolone without azathioprine may have abrogated activated Tregs, Bregs and IL-6 production and therefore permitting the activation of CD8 T cells, clearing the virus.

Second-line therapies including azathioprine and mycophenolate may be considered where there is: no response to steroids, inability to wean to a reasonable minimum effective dose or if side-effects are intolerable...Muscle-specific tyrosine kinase (MuSK)-JMG show a poorer response to pyridostigmine and anecdotal evidence suggests that rituximab should be considered as second-line immunosuppression...Key questions remain in the management of JMG: when to initiate both first- and second-line treatments, choosing between steroid-sparing agents, and determining the optimal dose and treatment duration. We feel that given the rarity of this disease, the establishment of national registries and collaboration across groups will be needed to address these issues and facilitate future drug trials in JMG.

GC-induced bone loss was induced in 25-week-old female mice by implanting prednisolone (7.5 mg) slow-release pellets for 4 weeks...Dkk-1 deficiency in osteolineage cells protects against GC-induced bone loss, while it had only minor effects in arthritis. Therefore, Dkk1 may be a promising therapeutic target especially for bone diseases in which inhibition of bone formation represents the predominant mechanism.

Overall, patients with IHHE do well, a significant percentage of whom do not require drug therapy, particularly for those with small focal lesions. In patients with multifocal/diffuse disease, there is a high incidence of low T3 and T4 and while some of these patients did well without additional therapy, those with rapidly progressive lesions during treatment may do poorly.

Taken together, DesAB-expressing microbes may be an overlooked source of androgens in the body, potentially contributing to various disease states, such as prostate cancer.

Most (77.8%) patients who achieved remission without the use of daily 2 mg/kg of prednisolone did so within the 1 week and a majority of patients were still in remission at three months follow-up. We conclude that most infection associated relapses can be managed with treatment of underlying infection alone and use of stress doses of steroids for inducing remission without increasing the prednisolone doses to 2 mg/kg/d and thus reducing the cumulative steroid doses.

On univariate regression analysis, statistically significant inverse relationship was observed between cumulative dose of prednisolone (in grams) (P = 0.049) and BMI (P = 0.00) with BMD Z-score, but no relation was observed with duration of illness.
