There was no lower limit of gestational week for TOP, although extra precaution is required for the confirmation of completion of procedures and exclusion of ectopic pregnancy.

Different concentrations of Mifepristone (MIF), a progesterone receptor antagonist, were used to interfere with PR-M(+) and PR-M(-) cell lines, respectively...However, the expression of Caspase-3 protein on progesterone receptor M increased, while the expression of Bcl-2 decreased. Moreover, progesterone could induce progesterone receptor M to up-regulate apoptotic protein Caspase-3 and down-regulate anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2, thus it could inhibit the apoptosis of primary cultured uterine leiomyoma cells and promote the proliferation of leiomyoma cells.

Taken together, these results indicate that EDCs (OP and BPA) has a structure similar to that of endogenous steroid hormones such as progesterone and estrogen, and OP and BPA act like progesterone to inhibit and disrupt cardiomyocyte differentiation of mESCs.

The road toward increasing access to abortion services at the MX-MOH included a shift from dilation and curettage (D&C) to medical abortion (MA), first with the misoprostol-alone regimen, followed by the combined mifepristone-misoprostol regimen...However, women from indigenous groups residing in rural areas, those with low schooling, and adolescents with an unintended pregnancy who live in rural, urban, peri-urban districts, and at the state level are underserved despite being legally eligible to receive abortion services. Therefore, information and services for the disadvantaged groups need to be strengthened.

Glucocorticoids, including dexamethasone (DEX) and prednisone (PRED), have been prescribed in patients with neoplastic disease as cytotoxic agents or comedications...The effects of PRED were restored by a GR antagonist RU486 in GR-positive MCA-SVHUC cells, while PRED failed to inhibit the neoplastic transformation of GR knockdown cells...Finally, DEX was found to considerably induce both transactivation (activation of glucocorticoid-response element mediated transcription and expression of its targets) and transrepression (suppression of nuclear factor-kappa B transactivation and expression of its regulated genes) of GR in SVHUC cells, while PRED more selectively induced GR transrepression. These findings suggest that PRED could prevent urothelial tumorigenesis presumably via inducing GR transrepression.

Conversely, treatment with the ER antagonist, ICI 182,780, significantly increased NALCN mRNA expression, while treatment with the PR antagonist RU486 significantly decreased NALCN mRNA expression suggesting E2 and P4 work through their respective receptors to regulate NALCN...This data reveals a new mechanism by which NALCN is regulated in the myometrium and may suggest a novel role for NALCN during pregnancy. Further investigation into these novel roles can provide an insight into potential targets to modulate uterine quiescence and contractility.

Forty female rats conceived on the same day received mifepristone(11...As compared with the model group,the uterine bleeding volume was decreased significantly in the carbonized Scutellariae Radix medium dose and high dose groups; endometrial repair was promoted,and the microvessel density of endometrial tissues was increased significantly; the contents of IL-1β and TNF-α in the plasma of rats were decreased significantly,while the content of IL-6 in the plasma of rats was increased significantly; the expression levels of IL-1β and TNF-α mRNA in the uterus of rats were decreased and the expression level of IL-6 mRNA showed an increase; the protein expressions of VEGF,MMP-2 and MMP-9 were decreased significantly in carbonized Scutellariae Radix medium and high dose groups. In conclusion,carbonized Scutellariae Radix showed good hemostatic effect,and its mechanism may be related to the repair of endometrium and inhibition of inflammatory reaction.

We recruited human immunodeficiency virus-uninfected females, not taking any contraceptives, from Cape Town, South Africa, to evaluate the effect of MPA, NET-A, and dexamethasone on Mtb containment in monocyte-derived macrophages co-incubated with purified protein derivative (PPD)-driven peripheral blood-derived effector cells...Antagonizing the glucocorticoid receptor with mifepristone (RU486) abrogated the reduction in Mtb containment...MPA, but not NET-A, subverts mycobacterial containment in vitro, and downregulates pathways associated with protective CD8+ and CD4+-related host immunity via the glucocorticoid receptor. These data potentially inform the selection and use of injectable contraceptives in TB endemic countries.
