We demonstrated that diosgenin suppressed COX-2 in human non-small-cell lung carcinoma A549 cells via nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) translocation and the effects were reversed by a glucocorticoid receptor antagonist, RU486...Multiple immunohistochemical analyses showed that diosgenin had an effect on COX-2 and mPGES-1, particularly in the macrophages. Thus, we showed that diosgenin downregulated COX-2 and mPGES-1 via the glucocorticoid receptor and suppressed COX-2 and mPGES-1 in the macrophages of LPS-induced acute mouse liver injury.

Comparison of the effectiveness of induction of labor with the use of mifepristone and an intracervical balloon Foley catheter showed that both of these methods are successful, with more deliveries within the first 24 hrs achieved by using Foley catheter. The results of this study support the postulate that the success of an induction is largely dependent on the degree of cervical ripening and parity.

These data implicate P4 and IFNT in the regulation of phosphate, calcium, and vitamin D signaling during the peri-implantation period of pregnancy and provide a platform for continued mechanistic investigations in both humans and livestock species.

Our finding of decreased fusiform, angular and precuneal vPAL task related brain activity associated with mifepristone administration for the same behavioural performance as found in the placebo condition may represent improved efficiency of visuospatial memory encoding and recall. These findings provide evidence that mifepristone may enhance the efficiency of human visuospatial memory and calls for further studies in patient populations using an fMRI approach to provide proof of concept for new treatments.
