    To our knowledge, the study presented in this paper is the first report on the concentrations of mifepristone and its metabolites in maternal blood samples after performing a self-induced abortion. The established UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS method is suitable for forensic toxicological analysis as well as in terms of clinical toxicology in future investigations (examination of pharmacokinetics, bioavailability and metabolism of RU-486).

    PGGH is a very rare disease that can lead to death if not diagnosed and treated in a timely manner. This article describes the cases of the two youngest children with PGGH reported in the literature, one of whom improved after mifepristone treatment, and increases the knowledge of the clinical manifestations of and the treatment experience in PGGH.

    The MC4R agonists seem to exacerbate stress-inducing anxiety- and depressive-like behavior, while MC4R antagonists have been demonstrated to mitigate such disorders, as shown in several preclinical behavioral tests. The evidence collected in the present review suggest that the melanocortin system, through the MC4R, could possibly modulate behavioral responses to stress, suggesting the use of MC4R antagonists as a possible novel treatment for anxiety and depression induced by stress.

    In the glandular epithelium (GE), bulk entry is rarely observed and green cellular dots do not show any consistent differences among all the investigated conditions. This study demonstrates the dominant role of LE but not GE, the temporal mechanisms of bulk entry and endocytosis in the LE, and the inhibitory effects of P4-deficiency and RU486 on bulk entry in the LE in preimplantation uterine fluid absorption.

    There is a great need for a new contraceptive drug without these hormones with the associated side effects and contraindications; with also a favorable bleeding profile; that can be used orally and not daily; that can serve as a contraceptive and after-care and can also be used on demand. Mifepristone 50 mg seems to provide the answer to all these wishes but is not (yet) registered in the Netherlands.

    Mifepristone is the only glucocorticoid receptor antagonist currently approved for the treatment of Cushing's syndrome...Treatment of severe adrenal insufficiency requires high doses of dexamethasone...These potential adverse effects can largely be avoided with careful attention to detail. My opinion is that its current place in therapy is in patients with severe disease and in those not responding to other treatments.

    Our findings suggest that MPC capacity is inherently preserved in COPD patients, but is compromised after systemic administration of MP. This finding strengthens the concept that glucocorticoid treatment over the long term can negatively impact myogenic stem cell fate decisions and interfere with muscle mass recovery.

    Pharmacist respondents from across Canada reported being able and willing to dispense mifepristone and rarely mentioned barriers to stocking/dispensing the medication in the community pharmacy setting.     An RSA rat model was established by gavage with hydroxyurea and mifepristone...Astilbin treatment significantly increased GATA-3 expression, while it significantly reduced T-bet expression and the T-bet/GATA-3 ratio. Astilbin has a therapeutic effect on RSA in rats by regulating the balance of Th1/Th2 in maternal circulation and likely in decidual tissue.

    Misoprostol has many advantages over other ripening agents like osmotic dilators, other prostaglandins and mifepristone...This effect of vaginal misoprostol was more marked in premenopausal women.What the implications are of these findings for clinical practice and/or further research? The results of our study are at variance with other studies done on use of misoprostol via the vaginal or sublingual routes, and hence it is imperative that large multi-center studies be performed to bring about consensus on the topic.

    Apoptotic action of mifepristone, interference of heterotypic cell adhesion to the basement membrane, cell migration, growth inhibition of various cancer cell lines, decreased epidermal growth factor expression, suppression of invasive and metastatic cancer potential, increase in tumor necrosis factor, downregulation of cyclin-dependent kinase 2, B-cell lymphoma 2, and Nuclear factor kappa B have opened its potential to be explored as anti-cancer treatment and its effects on leiomyoma. The drug needs to be studied more for the prospectus of its anti-glucocorticoid actions in a wider dimension beyond its acquiescence for the treatment of Cushing syndrome.

    After validation, the AUB model was established with SD female rats which got pregnant on the same day by gavage with mifepristone(12.4 mg·kg~(-1)) and misoprostol(130 μg·kg~(-1))...All the compounds owned short half-life and quick elimination rate in vivo, and the large apparent volume of distribution indicated that they were widely distributed in tissues. Being rapid, accurate, and sensitive, this method is suitable for the pharmacokinetic study of extracts of Chinese herbal medicines and provides a reference for the study of pharmacodynamic material basis of C. chinense in treating AUB.
