    Journal:  Topical anaesthesia and decongestion in rhinology. (Pubmed Central) -  Nov 9, 2023
    Topical agents used for sinonasal anaesthesia include lignocaine, tetracaine and cocaine...Indeed, some authors have argued that no anaesthetic is required at all for flexible nasendoscopy despite the apparent consensus that nasal instrumentation is generally uncomfortable, inferred by the persistence of ongoing research in this area. This review provides a practical summary of local anaesthetic and decongestant pharmacology as it relates to rhinologic practice and summarises the literature to date, with the goal of identifying current gaps in the literature and guiding future research efforts.

    Intravenous Lignocaine Is Cost-effective To Prevent Emergence Delirium In Children After Ambulatory Procedures- A Randomized Controlled Study. (Exhibit Hall) -  Jul 20, 2023 - Abstract #ASA2023ASA_485;
    We hypothesized that the neuronal inhibition of the subcortical centres by IV lignocaine can potentially counter the hyperexcitability and increased motor activity during waking up from sevoflurane, and thus, may offer promise to prevent ED in children.Aim: To study the efficacy of intravenous lignocaine to prevent emergence delirium in children who received sevoflurane anaesthesia for ambulatory procedures.After approval of Institute Ethics Committee, a prospective randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study was conducted in children aged 2-6 years of ASA physical status 1 and 2, scheduled for ambulatory ophthalmic procedures...The secondary outcome measures were initial PAED score in PACU, emergence and extubation times, and number of children who required fentanyl postop... End-operative administration of IV lignocaine is a cheap and efficacious medication to reduce emergence delirium significantly without excessive sedation in children who undergo ambulatory procedures.

    Journal:  A Split-Mouth Clinical Comparative Evaluation of the Anesthetic Efficacy of Articaine and Lignocaine for Maxillary Bicuspids Extraction. (Pubmed Central) -  Jul 11, 2023
    The average onset time of anesthesia in Group A was 1.2 minutes and 2.55 minutes in Group B. In Group A, the average duration of anesthesia was 70 minutes, and 46.5 minutes in Group B. These parameters were statistically significant with a p-value of <0.05. Conclusion The study concluded that as an alternative to lignocaine, articaine could be used effectively for maxillary premolar extractions for orthodontic reasons obviating palatal injection which is very painful to the patient.

    The use of intralesional hyaluronidase for scleroderma of the hands  () -  Jul 3, 2023 - Abstract #WCD2023WCD_6231;
    Dogs receiving retrobulbar BLD had a significantly lower intraoperative RR and isoflurane requirement and an increased incidence of intraoperative bradycardia and hypertension. OBSERVATIONS: A 76-year-old female with a 12-month history of limited scleroderma involving hands, legs, face, lungs and gastrointestinal tract, had treatments including topical clobetasol, topical betamethasone diproprionate and oral methotrexate, which improved the inflammation, but failed to improve her hand and finger function...Lignocaine 1% was injected locally or as a nerve block...This demonstrated objective and subjective improvements in our patient
