Journal: Oxygen delivery by mask improves the PaO of pregnant ewes during short term anaesthesia for caesarean delivery of preterm lambs. (Pubmed Central) - May 20, 2021 Twenty-six pregnant Merino cross ewes at 121-123 days of gestation were anaesthetised with intravenous midazolam and ketamine for subarachnoid administration of 60 mg of lignocaine and caesarean delivery of the preterm lamb...The PaO of ewes receiving oxygen by face mask was higher than previously reported [92.6 ± 44.0 mmHg compared to 45.2 ± 11.8 mmHg (Musk and Kemp, 2018) (p = 0.0007)]. Oxygen delivery by mask improved the PaO of pregnant ewes during short term anaesthesia.

Review, Journal: Tumescent Anesthesia for Dermatosurgical Procedures Other Than Liposuction. (Pubmed Central) - Apr 30, 2021 Nonetheless, one must be vigilant about the signs and symptoms of LAST, as they may not manifest until several hours after the procedure. Lipid emulsion therapy should be readily available and could prove life-saving in such situations.

Journal: Topical lignocaine anaesthesia for oropharyngeal sampling for COVID-19. (Pubmed Central) - Apr 24, 2021 Preoperative administration of a combination of dexamethasone and ibuprofen improved the success rate of inferior alveolar nerve block in mandibular molars with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis. Topical lignocaine, while improving the comfort of the procedure of oropharyngeal sampling for patient did not alter the SARS-CoV-2 viral load that was detected in nasal and oropharyngeal samples taken together.

Journal: Comparison of two topical treatments on wound healing 7 days after disbudding of calves using thermocautery. (Pubmed Central) - Mar 23, 2021 Aims To compare wound healing 7 days after cautery disbudding of dairy calves treated immediately after disbudding with a traditional antimicrobial spray (OXY) or with a topical anaesthetic gel containing cetrimide, adrenaline and two local anaesthetics, lignocaine and bupivacaine (TA)...No sign of infection was seen in any calves. Conclusion and clinical relevance The greater prevalence of granulation tissue and reduction in crusting in disbudding wounds treated with topical anaesthetic gel compared to those treated with the antimicrobial spray suggests that use of the topical anaesthetic gel may speed wound healing compared to using antimicrobial spray. This should be further tested in a larger study undertaken over a longer period.

Journal: Role of medical thoracoscopy in the treatment of complicated parapneumonic effusions. (Pubmed Central) - Mar 10, 2021 There were no major procedure-related complications that required intervention. Early adhesiolysis and drainage of fluid using medical thoracoscopy should be considered in patients with multiloculated complicated PPE after careful radiological (ultrasonography and CT) stratification, as a more cost-effective and safe method of management.

Clinical, Journal: DentalVibe reduces pain during the administration of local anesthetic injection in comparison to 2% lignocaine gel: results from a clinical study. (Pubmed Central) - Feb 16, 2021 The primary outcome was pain, which was recorded immediately after the administration of anesthetic injection using the Visual Analogue Scale [VAS 0 - 10]. The VAS pain scores ranged from 4 to 10 for site A and 0 to 6 for site B. Comparison between the two sites showed a statistically significant difference [Mann-Whitney U test value = 51.50, P < 0.001] favoring site B. This study showed that DentalVibe reduces pain during injection of local anesthesia compared to topical anesthetic gel.
