Part of the does were provided with subcutaneous progesterone implants after mating to compensate for frequently occurring premature corpus luteum regression...The LH surge provoked by administration of the GnRH analog buserelin emerged within 1.0 h and was closely synchronized, significantly more so than after administration of hCG or physiological saline, commencing after 11.8 and 14.9 h, respectively, with no significant differences amongst each other...The interval between commencement of the LH surge and ovulation was, across treatment groups, 24.2 h with no significant difference among groups. Ovulatory response and yield of transferable embryos obtained by nonsurgical collection were modest with no significant differences among groups.

Since the latter acted though its relation with the quantity of eggs collected, it did not emerge as a marker of egg quality influencing euploidy.

Stimulation tests with the GnRH-agonist buserelin were performed on days 10 and 45...On day 10 after treatment, a GnRH stimulation test revealed interactions between group and time (P < 0.001) in plasma LH concentration that were no longer detectable on day 45 after treatment. In conclusion, long-acting deslorelin implants result in a transient downregulation of pituitary GnRH receptors that is associated with inhibition of ovulation and estrous behavior in Shetland mares.

Recovery of steroidogenesis was observed after injection of hCG, the placental gonadotropin, or buserelin acetate, a gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogue, at the peak of EAE. Together, our results are consistent with the hypothesis that impaired testicular steroidogenesis originates upstream of the testes and that low serum LH is the main cause of decreased testosterone levels during EAE.

The present study aims to evaluate the effect of administering prostaglandin (250 μg cloprostenol) and oxytocin (10 UI) or a GnRH agonist (4.2 μg buserelin acetate) on rams' physiological responses to electroejaculation and the ejaculate's characteristics...The research concluded that the administration of oxytocin and analogs of PGF2alpha decreased the stress response to electroejaculation, as well as administering GnRH agonist was slightly effective as it only decreased cortisol concentration. Also, these treatments, either alone or combined, did not affect the characteristics of the ejaculate collected.

In particular, the endocrine effects of KiSS are mediated by GnRH1, so suggesting that hypothalamic-like interaction between KiSS and GnRH1 occurs also in Leydig cells.

The findings showed that treatment with PGF during the periovulatory period has potential to increase fertilization rate and embryo production in superovulated buffaloes.

In conclusion, the P-5d protocol did not synchronize follicle wave emergence but produced similar final ovulation, whereas, GnRH and EB protocols had follicle dynamics synchronized by distinct mechanisms that produced differences in CL number and P4 at the time of PGF treatment but similar final ovulation. Based on ovarian function, each of these synchronization methods are promising for use in FTAI, although fertility still needs to be evaluated.

In conclusion, this study contributes to erasing the dogma that has been established since 1975 that a single injection in solution without any long-acting excipient of a GnRH agonist can not induce ovulation in the mare. This study also shows that a injection of 0.1 mg of triptorelin in solution is a good alternative for ovulation induction and is comparable to small doses of buserelin acetate in solution (1 mg) and 1500 IU of the gold standard trigger hCG, mainly in countries where human formulation of buserelin is not available.
