    Escalation did not impact footshock-induced reinstatement, suggesting that escalation of intake and stress-induced craving with OUD involve dissociable mechanisms. These results provide foundational evidence of sex-specific neuroadaptations to opioid withdrawal, which may be relevant to the female-specific resilience to withdrawal-associated increases in opioid choice and aid in the identification of novel therapeutic targets.

    All of the fentanyl analogs produced opioid-like antinociception and at least some morphine-like interoceptive effects and therefore have the potential to be used as substitutes for legal and illegal opioids. Because most of these substances share similar mechanism of action with fentanyl and morphine, and because 10 of the 13 were more potent than morphine, they have the potential for inadvertent overdose.

    Additionally, this study has demonstrated that the cutoff selected adequately identifies illicit fentanyl use while not flagging cases where fentanyl was administered by the hospital prior to birth. These data support further development of anti-fentanyl vaccines formulated in novel TLR adjuvants and warrant future studies exploring their applicability to other vaccine formulations against substance use disorders.

    The satisfaction score of analgesia in the ON-Q group was comparable with that of the patients in the IV PCA group.This study demonstrates that single use of continuous wound infusion showed comparable analgesia with fentanyl-based IV PCA in patients who underwent mastectomy with immediate autologous breast reconstruction. Furthermore, the continuous infusion of LA directly on the surgical site did not significantly affect wound healing.

    Our study found those who injected buprenorphine as primary drug (OR = 0.29, 95% CI = 0.10,0.81) had lower odds of OD compared to those who injected heroin. Conclusions/Importance: Given an increase in OD prevalence among PWID in the U.S, and especially among people living in the Appalachian region of Kentucky, assessing factors associated with OD is critical in development of tailored public health interventions to address the disparate rates of non-fatal OD in this vulnerable population.

    Our findings show a continued presence of Rx opioids in overdose deaths and that those dying from fentanyl had different Rx records than those who died from other drugs. Continued monitoring of Rx drugs, improved toxicology testing and greater data access for more research should follow to inform effective interventions.

This systematic review will summarize and update our knowledge about neonatal analgesia and sedation including pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics, and provide a platform for developing evidence-based guidelines that we can immediately apply to our clinical practice.

    Mean age (51.36±17.750 years versus 56.74±16.995 years), weight (58.88±8.151 kg versus 57.32±8.431 kg) and gender distribution (14 versus 12 male patients and 36 versus 38 female patients) were comparable in both groups-Group P and Group FP. There were 34 patients in Group P and 37 patients in Group FP with easy cannulation and 16 patients in Group P and 13 patients in Group FP with difficult cannulation, which was comparable (p value=0.509) Cannulation of ampulla of vater is not affected by the use of fentanyl in combination with propofol when compared to propofol alone and can be routinely used during endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography.

    Background: Philadelphia (Pennsylvania, USA) is facing an unprecedented public health crisis due to fentanyl use...Among individuals reporting opioid use who also saw SDB (n=123), those who were unstably housed were more likely to use SDB than those with stable housing (67.8% vs 45.3%, p=.012). These results suggest Kensington residents, especially those who are unstably housed, use SDB once they see them in the neighborhood.

    These findings indicate that opioid-dependent PWID on methadone remain at increased risk for overdose given the high prevalence of ongoing purposeful fentanyl exposure. Interventions to reduce the harms associated with fentanyl use should target young PWID and active fentanyl users, with an emphasis on achieving adequate methadone dosage and screening and treating depression in methadone-maintained patients who preferentially seek fentanyl.

    Fontan patients received fewer opioids intraoperatively (11.33 µg/kg fentanyl equivalents versus 12.56 µg/kg, p = 0.03)...There were no differences between groups with regards to the respiratory rate nadir, postoperative pain scores, or the incidence of opioid-related side effects. In contrast to other populations with chronic hypoxemia exposure, children with cyanotic CHD did not appear to have increased sensitivity to the effects of opioid medications.

    We aimed to investigate the effects of dinalbuphine sebacate (DNS), fentanyl-based patient-controlled analgesia (PCA), and conventional analgesia (CA) for pain management after laparotomy for gynecologic cancers...The total consumption of morphine equivalents per day was similar between the DNS and PCA groups (142.8 ± 7.3 mg vs 137.7 ± 70.0 mg, p = 0.8032) and lowest in the CA group (11.7 ± 30.7 mg, p < 0.0001)...A single DNS injection was more effective for relieving POP than PCA and CA in the patients who had a longitudinal incision for gynecologic cancer surgery. DNS was well tolerated and had less adverse effects than PCA and CA.

    Eleven healthy subjects (5 women/6 men) completed three bouts of constant-load single-leg knee-extension exercise in a control trial and an identical trial conducted with lumbar intrathecal fentanyl to attenuate neural feedback from lower-limb group III/IV muscle afferents...Therefore, the interaction between the MR and the O-CR exerts a hyper-additive effect on V̇ and V, and an additive effect on f, whereas the interaction between the MR and the CO-CR is simply additive for all ventilatory parameters. These findings reveal that the MR:CR interaction further augments the ventilatory response to exercise in hypoxia.

    In this study, our data indicates that American Society of Anesthesiologists I- II pediatric patients undergoing adenotonsillectomy and tonsillectomy can be efficiently and safely managed with an opioid-free intraoperative and postoperative analgesic regimen.     The results of this work contribute to the literature on the impacts of opioids and other drugs of abuse released into surface waters. CT-guided inferior mesenteric plexus block can be performed in patients with left-sided lower abdominal pain, enabling a safer and more accurate procedure especially in patients with terminal cancer who are unable to lie prone owing to severe lower abdominal pain or with considerable anatomic deformation due to extensive growth, invasion, and metastasis of the tumor in the abdominal cavity.
