    This order set implemented the use of intranasal (IN) fentanyl as a first line analgesic for SCD patients who presents to the ED with VOE...Length of stay is also confounded by other factors during the hospitalization and acquisition of other diagnoses such as acute chest. Future research is needed to determine if the demonstrated trend of admission rates and hospital length of stay can be replicated in other pediatric EDs and whether earlier opioid administration affects the outcome of VOEs beyond the ED.

    Central nervous system stimulants (e.g., methamphetamine and amphetamine) as well as naturally-occurring and semi-synthetic opioids (e.g., morphine, hydromorphone and oxycodone) were among the drugs least susceptible to adsorption and displayed only minimal relative decreases in concentration (if any) over the 3-month sample storage period. The potential for decreases in drug concentration due to adsorption of drugs to the gel material should be considered for toxicological interpretation based on the analysis of a sample collected in a gel separator tube.

    A proactive stance, monitoring these patients closely and regularly, is probably crucial in order to achieve good treatment results. Further studies are needed to develop better pain treatment strategies for those patients who develop severe oral mucositis-related pain despite intensive opioid treatment.

This novel protocol can improve transparency, reproducibility, and external validity in experimental rat spinal surgery experiments.

    Pre-, peri-, and postoperative intravenous ropivacaine are safe and effective than that of normal saline or lidocaine in hand-assisted laparoscopic surgery of left colon cancer. National consumption and new IRF users in Spain increased over the study period and one quarter of patients did not have a BTCP or cancer diagnosis registered in their clinical record.

    As point-of-care technologies failed to detect these compounds in many occasions, our findings demonstrate the importance of laboratory confirmatory analysis to identify NPS. Given the high risk of harm associated with the consumption of synthetic cannabinoids, further research should investigate the reasons for adulteration.

    We observe meaningful reductions in labor supply measured in terms of employment-to-population ratios, hours worked, and earnings in states more exposed to reformulation relative to those less exposed. We also find evidence of increases in disability applications and beneficiaries.

    Intraoperative and postoperative fentanyl requirement was much lower in the PVB group (3.49 (0.91)) compared to the control group (9.86 (1.37)) P value <0.01*...Mean postoperative pain scores were significantly lower in the PVB group at the time of ICU admission (0.85 vs 3.12, P 0.001*) till 4 hours (2.11 vs 3.32, P 0.001*). PVB provides an effective and safe anaesthetic approach which can form an important component of "fast-track" care in paediatric cardiac surgery.

    These findings show that hypercapnia increases sensitivity to respiratory depressant effects of fentanyl, as compared with assessments during the rat diurnal period when activity and breathing rate are generally low, i.e., there is a floor effect. The current approach is highly sensitive to opioid-induced respiratory depression, and therefore provides a useful method for assessment in a pre-clinical setting.

    Left atrial appendage occlusion using the FDA-approved Watchman™ device has been shown to have better clinical outcomes with minimal post-procedural complications when compared to warfarin therapy for patients with contraindications to anticoagulation...Patients in the SGA group received lower fentanyl (P < 0.00001) dosages...General anesthesia with SGA is likely a safe, feasible alternative to ETT in Watchman™ procedures requiring TEE guidance. Use of SGA was associated with significant reductions in operating room time and PACU length of stay, potentially offering advantages in terms of resource utilization.
