Additionally, two pithy formula codes, 4321 for propofol with fentanyl/alfentanil and 42222111 for propofol with remifentanil, are provided for the general population and one pithy formula code, 4321 for propofol with fentanyl, is provided for pediatric patients.

Clinical, Observational data, Journal: Continuous Incisional Lidocaine in Pediatric Patients following Open Heart Surgery. (Pubmed Central) - Jan 27, 2022 Incisional analgesia was effective for the treatment of pain as it reduced the dose and duration of intravenous fentanyl (odds ratio (OR) 6.26, confidence interval (CI) 95%: 2.48-15.97, p = 0.001; OR 4.30, CI 95%: 2.09-8.84, p = 0.001, respectively)...This procedure reduced intravenous analgesic drug requirements in pediatric patients undergoing a median sternotomy incision. Although the incidence of secondary effects is low, monitoring of neurologic status and lidocaine blood levels are recommended in all patients.

Out of the 5,273,598 opioid units used in this period all over the country, morphine, fentanyl, and remifentanil, accounted for, respectively, 559,270 (10.6%), 4,624,328 (87.6%), and 90,000 (1.8%) units...In the COVID-19 pandemic scenario, positive points related to opioids were mainly the occurrence of analgesia, to facilitate intubation and their use as coadjutants in the management of acute intensification of pain, whereas the negative points were indiscriminate use, the presence of human immunosuppressor response and increased adverse effects due to higher doses of the drug. The importance of rational and individualized use of analgesic hypnotics and sedative anesthetics should be considered at all times, especially in situations of high demand such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

Journal: Correlation Between Anthropometric Measurements and Sensory Block Level of Spinal Anesthesia for Cesarean Section. (Pubmed Central) - Jan 26, 2022 Spinal anesthesia was induced by administering 8 mg of 0.5% hyperbaric bupivacaine and 20 μg of fentanyl at the L3-L4 interspace...When comparing the groups with and without hypotension, BMI, weight, and supine AC/height ratio were found to be significantly higher in the group with hypotension (P = 0.002, P = 0.004 and P = 0.006, respectively). We conclude that BMI and AC/height ratio correlate with the sensory block level of spinal anesthesia for cesarean section.

Collectively, our findings suggest that perinatal fentanyl-exposed mice exhibit somatic withdrawal behavior and change into early adulthood reminiscent of humans born with NOWS.
