The intervention group received TECAR therapy (capacitive mode, 2 sessions weekly), and conventional treatment comprised of stretching exercise (9 times a day) and medication (acetaminophen and tizanidine) for 3 weeks, and the comparison group received conventional treatment (same as the intervention group) alone...Moreover, the intervention group had better results compared with the comparison group based on the minimal clinically important difference. A combination of TECAR therapy, exercise, and medication substantially reduced symptom severity for patients with MPS in the upper trapezius when compared to only exercise and medication.

A non-opioid multimodal postoperative regimen for patients undergoing anatomic or reverse TSA significantly reduces opioid prescriptions with similar patient-reported outcomes, subjective pain scores, and without increased complication rates compared to an opioid only regimen.

Moreover, Chi-Aze patch might be an alternative to oral formulations of TZN to reduce the dose and frequency of drug administration.

The pitfalls and concerns of long-term therapies in different age groups, including children, women planning pregnancy, and especially the elderly considering their comorbidities are emphasized, also highlighting the challenges in distinguishing the conditioning effects or expectations of chronically applied therapies from objective meaningful clinical benefits. Finally, the need for future targeted immunotherapeutic options based on disease immunopathogenesis and the biologic basis of autoimmune hyperexcitability are discussed, pointing out the unique challenges in the design of future controlled clinical trials especially in quantifying the extend and severity of stiffness, episodic or startle-triggered muscle spasms, task-specific phobias, and excitability.
