Non responders had the best outcome with ditherapy (30/79; 38%), while responders had the best outcome with monotherapy (161/180;89.4%). Levetiracetam is efficient antiepileptic drug for different types of epilepsies in childhood, used as mono, di or polytherapy.

When compared with oxcarbazepine, levetiracetam does not correlate with increased risk of ventricular arrythmia and sudden cardiac death. Our finding does not support the concern for cardiac risk to indicate restriction of levetiracetam use nor the requirement of cardiac monitoring when using it.

This case demonstrates that nonconvulsive status epilepticus can be a manifestation of cerebral malaria. It is imperative for attending physicians to heighten vigilance when encountering patients with a history of travel to malaria-endemic regions or a prior malaria infection, especially in the presence of unusual clinical presentations.

Furthermore, perampanel showed the lowest HCRU and costs for all-cause cases as well as the lowest length of stay and outpatient visits for epilepsy-related cases. In this population-based study, the use of lamotrigine, levetiracetam, oxcarbazepine, or perampanel as the first add-on therapy in patients with epilepsy contributed to better treatment compliance and lower HCRU and costs than that of carbamazepine, topiramate, or valproate.

Although we now have a good evidence-base for the initial status epilepticus management, the best treatments for the later stages are still unclear and clinical trials of potentially disease-modifying therapies are long overdue.

This case highlights that brain lesions separate from the basal ganglia can induce hemiballismus, particularly within the frontal lobe, which warrants further research into precentral sulcus functioning and its role in modulating motor activity.

Following surgery, cenobamate was associated with lower ER rates than 7 leading ASMs, and with lower inpatient days than all comparators except eslicarbazepine, suggesting that improved seizure control with cenobamate may provide significant cost savings and reductions in seizure-related morbidity and mortality.

To our knowledge, only one other case report of RPD and EPS associated with leptomeningeal carcinomatosis exists and this is the first report of it associated with Froin's syndrome.
