    Films, prepared in an easy and scalable method, demonstrated high loading capacity, controlled drug release and the capability to deliver dexamethasone and levofloxacin to the cornea and across the sclera, to potentially target also the posterior eye segment. Overall, this device can be considered a multipurpose delivery platform intended for the concomitant release of lipophilic and hydrophilic drugs.

    Journal:  Plasma Cell Gingivitis: Clinical and Pathological Case Report. (Pubmed Central) -  May 7, 2023
    The etiology of PCG, although unclear, may be attributable to a hypersensitivity reaction. PCG may mimic other pathological entities, which underscores the importance of microscopic examination in establishing a definitive diagnosis before treatment initiation.

    Review, Journal:  The roles of growth factors and hormones in the regulation of muscle satellite cells for cultured meat production. (Pubmed Central) -  May 7, 2023
    In this review, we investigated the roles of growth factors and hormones during cultured meat production because these factors provide signals for MSC growth and structural stability. The aim of this article is to provide the important idea about different growth factors such as FGF (enhance the cell proliferation and differentiation), IGF-1 (increase the number of myoblasts), PDGF (myoblast proliferation), TGF-?1 (muscle repair) and hormones such as insulin (cell survival and growth), testosterone (muscle fiber size), dexamethasone (myoblast proliferation and differentiation), and thyroid hormones (amount and diameter of muscle fibers and determine the usual pattern of fiber distributions) as media components during myogenesis for cultured meat production.

    Review, Journal:  Hearing loss and COVID-19: an umbrella review. (Pubmed Central) -  May 7, 2023
    The findings suggest that despite being one of the rare complications of COVID-19, hearing loss can impact a patient's quality of life. The most common type reported was sensorineural hearing loss, which can be diagnosed with variable techniques.

  • ||||||||||  AN STROKE CODE OF INFECTIOUS ETIOLOGY () -  May 6, 2023 - Abstract #ESPID2023ESPID_1981;
    Empirical treatment must cover microorganisms that cause sinusitis and must have a high central nervous system penetration. The multidisciplinary care of these patients as well as the early drainage of intracranial empyema and sinus collections improve the prognosis and outcomes.

    KAWASAKI DISEASE  () -  May 6, 2023 - Abstract #ESPID2023ESPID_1934;
    Since the fever persisted for longer than 48 hours after IVIG administration, he was given a second dose of IVIG combined with intravenous methylprednisolone, with clinical and laboratory improvement...Enterovirus isolation in blood supports the evidence that several infectious agents may trigger the immunopathogenesis of KD. Persistent fever after IVIG administration, should raise concern for refractory KD.

    ADOLOSCENT WITH FEVER  () -  May 6, 2023 - Abstract #ESPID2023ESPID_1894;
    , child had continuous fever spikes with neck pain and conjunctival congestion for first 3 days child was worked up for infectious cause of fever and treated with IV Ceftriaxone...Child was afebrile for next 72 HOURS Investigation showed decreasing trend of inflammatory markers with - CRP 38 mg/ dl REPEAT ECHO no further worsening of aneurysm with same changes Discharged with aspirin 3 mg /Kg and regular plan to follow up. Learning Points/ Think beyond infections in a child with persistent fever Empiric use of steroids in early in the course of fever without establishing the cause does more harm than good by masking the clinical picture.

    SWISSPED RECOVERY TRIAL  () -  May 6, 2023 - Abstract #ESPID2023ESPID_1890;
    In 41 patients ICEs were observed; 24/37 (64.9%) in the iv methylprednisolone compared to 17/38 (44.7%) in the IVIG arm (most commonly oral corticosteroids). Baseline characteristics associated with ICEs were inotropic support 19/41 vs 6/34, p=0.017; more severe lymphocytopaenia (*109/L) 0.66 [0.47, 1.03] vs 1.00 [0.64, 1.42], p=0.041; and thrombocytopaenia (*109/L) 127 [100, 166] vs 180 [142, 261], p=0.004.

    GUILLAIN-BARRE SYNDROME AS MANIFESTATION OF MULTISYSTEM INFLAMMATORY SYNDROME IN CHILDREN (MIS-C) () -  May 6, 2023 - Abstract #ESPID2023ESPID_1861;
    He completed a course of methylprednisolone and intravenous immunoglobulin...Learning Points/ Association between Covid-19 and GBS has been shown in adults, however it is limited to case reports in children. The mechanism is still uncertain, but it has been attributed to post-infectious syndrome, nerve damage by T-cell activation, and hyperinflammatory response to COVID-19 virus.

    MULTISYSTEM INFLAMMATORY SYNDROME IN NEONATES (MIS-N) () -  May 6, 2023 - Abstract #ESPID2023ESPID_1807;
    Laboratory tests changes are shown in the table and chest X-ray showed bilateral alveolar infiltration.She received oxygen, IV antibiotics and dexamethasone...The common presentation of MIS-N included cardiorespiratory compromise with the possibility of high mortality. The identification of suspected MIS-N cases are necessary to perform specific lab tests and ECHO screening on time to decrease the mortality rate.

    Only 1 out of 16patients has a negative test for COVID-19 antibodies(6.25%). Paradoxical reaction was suspected and iv methylprednisolone at 2 mg/kg/d was started...Oral switch was made after 7 days of iv steroids followed by clinical and radiological worsening.Multidisciplinary diagnostic and therapeutic alternatives were discussed: transbronchial lymphadenopathies

    NEURO TUBERCULOSIS IN A YOUNG INFANT: A CASE REPORT () -  May 6, 2023 - Abstract #ESPID2023ESPID_1620;
    He presented epidemiology and CSF analysis suggestive of TB, and treatment with RIP and dexamethasone was immediately started...Learning Points/ epidemiological surveillance plays a fundamental role in controlling TB-related morbidity and mortality. In a country like Brazil, it cannot fail to be considered among the differential diagnoses in countless clinical conditions.
