- |||||||||| Journal: 25-Hydroxycholesterol Inhibits Adipogenic Differentiation of C3H10T1/2 Pluripotent Stromal Cells. (Pubmed Central) - Oct 2, 2020
Our observations showed that 25-HC was the most potent oxysterol in inhibiting adipogenesis and the expression of key adipogenic transcripts in C3H10T1/2 cells among the tested oxysterols, suggesting its potential application in providing an intervention in osteoporosis and obesity. We also report that the inhibitory effects of 25-HC on adipogenic differentiation in C3H10T1/2 cells are not mediated by hedgehog signaling and LXR.
- |||||||||| Review, Journal: The role of DNA methylation and histone modifications in blood pressure: a systematic review. (Pubmed Central) - Aug 23, 2020
In summary, the most convincing evidence has been reported from candidate-gene studies, which show reproducible epigenetic changes in the interconnected renin-angiotensin and inflammatory systems. Our study highlights gaps in the literature on the role of histone modifications in blood pressure and the need to conduct high-quality studies, in particular, hypothesis-generating studies that may help to elucidate new molecular mechanisms.
- |||||||||| Journal: Hypertension in High School Students: Genetic and Environmental Factors: The HYGEF Study. (Pubmed Central) - Jul 29, 2020
Urinary protein tests showed a greater excretion of IL1β (interleukin 1β) and interleukin 10 (P<0.0001) in carriers of the ADD1 rs4961 T allele. In conclusion, 3 missense gene variants already implicated in adult hypertension impact BP or Na excretion among adolescents, and, together with activated pro-inflammatory pathways, might predispose to early cardiovascular damage.
- |||||||||| Review, Journal: Sexually dimorphic DNA-methylation in cardiometabolic health: A systematic review. (Pubmed Central) - Jul 19, 2020
Our findings suggest that DNAm might be a promising molecular strategy for understanding sex differences in the pathophysiology of cardiometabolic diseases and that future studies should investigate the effects of sex on epigenetic mechanisms in cardiometabolic risk. In addition, we emphasize the gap between the translational potential and the clinical utilization of cardiometabolic epigenetics.

The aberrant epigenomic modulation of ACE II, TLR2, IFN-γ, AGTR1, and GCK correlated with essential HTN. Transforming the environments resulting from these epigenomic lesions will facilitate early intervention mapping in reducing HTN in the US population, especially among socially disadvantaged individuals, particularly racial/ethnic minorities.
- |||||||||| Journal: Effect of Fabomotizole on Brain Gene Expression in MR Rats in the Open Field Test. (Pubmed Central) - Mar 22, 2020
The analysis of the effect of fabomotizole on the gene expression profile in the brain of MR (Maudsley Reactive) rats was carried out when modeling emotional stress in the open field test. A change in the expression of 14 genes was found, the results of the functional annotation of which showed that the mechanisms of action of fabomotizole may be associated with the regulation of translation of proteins (Rpl5, Rpl15, Ncl, and Ybx1), synaptic functions (Cplx2, Dlg4, Syngap1, Add1, Rab8b, Klc1, and Chn1), and cellular metabolism (Akr1d1, Bcat1, and Pkm).
- |||||||||| Genetic and epigenetic risk factors in patients with severe preeclampsia (HALL 9 GALEN) - Feb 20, 2020 - Abstract #ISGE2020ISGE_407;
Our results support that the combination of >2 mutant alleles of genes-candidate for arterial hypertension or their combination with the mutant gene(s) of ADD1-1378TT, GNB3-825TT or cytochrome P-450 (CYP11B2-304TT) and heterozygous genotypes FVL-1691GA or FII-20210GA can be considered as a genetic predictor of SPE. Maternal systemic infectious and/or lower genital tract infections, tobacco smoking, history of >2 surgical abortions are associated with increased risk of SPE.
- |||||||||| Preclinical, Journal: Anti-obesity effect of Yangkyuksanwha-tang in high-fat diet-induced obese mice. (Pubmed Central) - Jan 1, 2020
The results imply that YST has anti-obesity effects in obesity-induced mice. Although the number of experimental animals was limited and the drug effects concern mice, rather than humans, which have different constitutions, the study has valuable implications with respect to the general effects of YST.
- |||||||||| Journal: Effects of Dietary Supplementation of Alpha-Ketoglutarate in a Low-Protein Diet on Fatty Acid Composition and Lipid Metabolism Related Gene Expression in Muscles of Growing Pigs. (Pubmed Central) - Oct 25, 2019
The experimental trial lasted 35 d. The results showed that compared with the NP and LP diets, supplementation with AKG in a low-protein diet increased the intramuscular fat (IMF), oleic acid (C18:1n-9), and monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA) contents (p < 0.05), and tended to increase the percentage of palmitoleic acid (C16:1) and stearic acid (C18:0) (p < 0.10) in the biceps femoris and longissimus dorsi muscles of growing pigs. These effects may be associated with increased relative mRNA expression levels of fatty acid synthase (FAS), acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC), adipocyte determination and differentiation factor 1 (ADD1), fatty acid binding protein 4 (FABP4), and stearoyl-CoA desaturase (SCD) in skeletal muscle, indicating that AKG might be involved in the differential regulation of some key lipogenic genes in skeletal muscles of pigs.

Its effectiveness as a water permeability reducing additive has shown encouraging results having reduced the water permeability by approximately 50% during testing. The action mechanism of the studied additive seems to be related to hydration reactions in the presence of water, producing new solid amorphous phases in the concrete bulk.
- |||||||||| Clinical, Review, Journal: A Review of the Epidemiological Evidence for Adducin Family Gene Polymorphisms and Hypertension. (Pubmed Central) - Jul 6, 2019
Animal model experiments and clinical studies suggest that changes in single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) at part of the adducin family gene increase the Na-K-ATPase activity of the renal tubular basement membrane and increase the reabsorption of Na by renal tubular epithelial cells, which may cause hypertension. This review makes a summary on the structure, function, and mechanism of adducin and the role of adducin on the onset of EH, providing a basis for the early screening, prevention, and treatment of EH.
- |||||||||| Clinical, Journal: Genetic Polymorphisms Associated with the Onset of Arterial Hypertension in a Portuguese Population (Pubmed Central) - May 7, 2019
Through a multivariate analysis, it was concluded that these two last genetic variants together with four of the traditional risk factors (smoking, alcohol consumption, obesity and diabetes) are associated in a significant and independent way with essential hypertension. In a predictive model of hypertension, the introduction of genetic variants slightly increases the predictive value of the model.

Journal: Salt Induces Adipogenesis/Lipogenesis and Inflammatory Adipocytokines Secretion in Adipocytes. (Pubmed Central) - Apr 9, 2019 Using the inhibitors of MAPK/ERK, U0126, we found that the crosstalk among the signaling pathways of MAPK/ERK, Akt-mTOR, and the inflammatory adipogenesis can be the possible mechanism of salt-linked obesity. The possibilities of whether the defense mechanisms against high dose of intracellular salts provoke signaling for adipocytes differentiation or interact with surrounding tissues through other pathways will be explored in future research.
