  • ||||||||||  Journal:  Role of Annexin A1 Secreted by Neutrophils in Melanoma Metastasis. (Pubmed Central) -  Feb 12, 2023
The depletion of peripheral neutrophils during lung melanoma metastasis development (anti-Gr1; i.p. every 48 h for 21 days) reduced the number of metastases and AnxA1 serum levels in mice. Our findings show that AnxA1 secreted by neutrophils favors melanoma metastasis evolution via FPR pathways, addressing AnxA1 as a potential biomarker for the detection or progression of melanoma.
  • ||||||||||  Biomarker, Journal, Tumor microenvironment, IO biomarker:  Mapping the tumor microenvironment in bladder cancer and exploring the prognostic genes by single-cell RNA sequencing. (Pubmed Central) -  Feb 7, 2023
Weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA), protein-protein interaction (PPI) network mutual analysis, and the Kaplan-Meier survival prognosis analysis were used to identify six key genes associated with the prognosis of bladder cancer: VEGFA, ANXA1, HSP90B1, PSMA7, PRDX6, and PPP1CB. The dynamic change of the expression distribution of six genes on the pseudo-time axis was further verified by cell pseudo-time analysis.
  • ||||||||||  Journal:  Intestinal fibrosis in aganglionic segment of Hirschsprung's disease revealed by single-cell RNA sequencing. (Pubmed Central) -  Feb 5, 2023
C1GALT1 stably depleted ECC-1 cells mimic an EC aggressive phenotype observed in patients and might be useful for the identification and validation of EC markers of progression. This work identifies intestinal fibrosis and related regulators in aganglionic segments of HSCR; hence, anti-fibrotic therapy may be considered to prevent HSCR-associated enterocolitis (HAEC), relieve intestinal stricture and improve cell therapy.
  • ||||||||||  Journal, Tumor mutational burden, IO biomarker:  A prognostic model based on necroptosis-related genes for prognosis and therapy in bladder cancer. (Pubmed Central) -  Jan 29, 2023
In our study, DOK7 was chosen to further verify our prognosis model, and functional assays indicated that knockdown the expression of DOK7 could prompt bladder cancer proliferation and migration. Our work demonstrated the potential role of prognostic model based on necroptosis genes in the prognosis, immune landscape and response efficacy of immunotherapy of bladder cancer.
  • ||||||||||  Preclinical, Journal:  Transcriptomic analysis of the upper lip and primary palate development in mice. (Pubmed Central) -  Jan 24, 2023
Protein-protein interaction (PPI) network analysis identified a series of hub genes, including Col1a2, Fos, Bmp2, Shh, Col1a1, Wnt3a, Anxa1, Gem, etc. Overall, the results of this study provided a comprehensive analysis of the development of the upper lip and primary palate. Our work provides insight into future studies of normal upper lip and primary palate development and the etiology of CL/P.
  • ||||||||||  Review, Journal:  Annexin A1 affects tumor metastasis through epithelial-mesenchymal transition: a narrative review. (Pubmed Central) -  Jan 17, 2023
Both the abnormal expression of ANXA1 and the occurrence of EMT are closely related to the invasion and metastasis of tumors, and more interestingly, ANXA1 can impact EMT directly or indirectly by mediating signaling pathways and adhesion among cells. We need more studies to elucidate the effects of ANXA1 on tumor invasion, migration and metastasis through EMT in vitro and in vivo clearly, and ultimately in patients to identify more therapeutic targets.
  • ||||||||||  Journal:  Bioinformatic analysis of molecular mechanism of IL-17 in regulating ulcerative colitis (Pubmed Central) -  Jan 12, 2023
Ten hub genes such as IL-6, CXCL8, CXCL10, CXCL1, CXCL9, ANXA1, IL-1β, CCL20, CXCL2, and CXCL11 were screened out of the PPI network, which were located downstream of the signaling pathway regulated by IL-17. Conclusion The 10 hub genes related to the risk of UC were likely to be regulated by IL-17 during the occurrence and development of UC.
  • ||||||||||  Review, Journal:  Autoimmune complications of COVID-19 and potential consequences for long-lasting disease syndromes. (Pubmed Central) -  Jan 1, 2023
This commentary focuses on the presence of various autoantibodies reported so far in Covid-19 diseases, exploring their association with the disease course and the durability of some related symptoms. Attempts are also made to further analyze the potential mechanism of actions and link the presence of antibodies with pathological complications.
  • ||||||||||  Journal:  Interplay of membrane crosslinking and curvature induction by annexins. (Pubmed Central) -  Dec 30, 2022
Our data support a mechanistic model of PMR where ANXA4 induced membrane curvature and ANXA6 crosslinking promotes wound closure. The model now can be expanded to include ANXA1 and ANXA2 as specialist free edge membrane crosslinkers that act in concert with ANXA4 induced curvature and ANXA6 crosslinking.
  • ||||||||||  Clinical data, Journal, Adverse events:  Annexin A1 Is Associated with Adverse Clinical Outcomes in Patients with COVID-19. (Pubmed Central) -  Dec 24, 2022
These findings might reflect an insufficient increase in AnxA1 as a response to the excessive hyperinflammation in COVID-19. Future studies should evaluate whether hyperinflammation could be reduced through the administration of human recombinant AnxA1 or Ac2-26 peptide.
  • ||||||||||  The role of gene expression of CD47 in colorectal cancer (CRC). (On Demand | Level 1, West Hall; Poster Board No. N2) -  Dec 13, 2022 - Abstract #ASCOGI2023ASCO_GI_903;
Highly CD47-expressed CRC harbored activation of DAMPs and oncogenic signaling pathways that linked to aberrant tumor microenvironment and worse prognosis. Our results support intensive treatment strategies using CD47 inhibitors combined with cytotoxic agents and molecular targeted agents (such as anti-VEGF agents) in CD47-overexpressed CRC.
  • ||||||||||  Journal:  Clinical and genetic characteristics of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients with ANXA11 variants. (Pubmed Central) -  Dec 3, 2022
In addition, functional studies using amyotrophic lateral sclerosis-frontotemporal dementia patient fibroblasts revealed that the ANXA11 variants p.P36R and p.D40G impaired intracellular calcium homeostasis, stress granule disassembly and protein translation. This study suggests that the clinical manifestations of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis-frontotemporal dementia spectrum patients with ANXA11 variants could be distinctively characterized depending upon the location of the variant.
  • ||||||||||  Review, Journal:  Current uses of artificial intelligence in the analysis of biofluid markers involved in corneal and ocular surface diseases: a systematic review. (Pubmed Central) -  Nov 18, 2022
Overall, most AI/bioinformatics tools were used to classify biofluids into diseases subgroups, distinguish between OSD, identify risk factors, or make predictions about treatment response, and/or prognosis. To conclude, AI models such as artificial neural networks, hierarchical clustering, random forest, etc., in conjunction with proteomic or metabolomic profiling using bioinformatics tools such as Gene Ontology or Kyoto Encylopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway analysis, were found to inform biomarker discovery, distinguish between OSDs, help define subgroups with OSDs and make predictions about treatment response in a clinical setting.
  • ||||||||||  Biomarker, Journal:  Salivary proteomic analysis in asymptomatic and symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection: innate immunity, taste perception and FABP5 proteins make the difference. (Pubmed Central) -  Nov 16, 2022
Our results demonstrate the power of a hypothesis-free and data-driven approach to transform the heterogeneity of the peritoneal exudate EV from pristane-treated mice in valuable information about the relative proportion of different EV in a given sample and to identify potential protein markers specific for the different small EV subtypes, in particular those proteins defining EV involved in the resolution phase of chronic inflammation. The differentially abundant proteins involved in innate immunity (S100 proteins), taste (CA6 and cystatins), and viral binding to the host (FABP5), appear to be of interest for use as potential biomarkers and drugs targets.
  • ||||||||||  Journal:  Development of Annexin A1-surface-functionalized metal-complex multi-wall lipid core nanocapsules and effectiveness on experimental colitis. (Pubmed Central) -  Nov 6, 2022
Only i.p. treatment with MLNC-AnxA1 reduced weight loss, diarrhea and disease activity index, and prevented loss of colonic structure integrity; induced the switch of macrophages into M2 phenotype in the lamina propria; recovered the colonic histoarchitecture by decreasing dysplasia of crypts, inflammation and ulcerations; restored the expression of claudin-1 Zonna-occludens-1 tight junctions in the inflamed gut; and induced stem cell proliferation in intestinal crypts. Associated, data highlight the functionalization of MLNC with AnxA1 as a tool to improve the local actions of such protein in the inflamed gut by inducing resolution of inflammation and tissue repair.
